Remember on MSCL when Angela sells her dad’s Dead tix? He gets in that fight w/ the mom. I do bc Angela’s dad & my dad are the same person. He & Angela eventually make up while cleaning the gutters listening to a boombox. He asks her what she listens to and she says REM, Smashing Pumpkins, and Wishy

Last night was frustrating and embarassing on so many levels, but the thing about baseball is that it could all not matter tonight and maybe just maybe tomorrow. Will that actually happen? I doubt it… but it damn well could

Going to college in Amherst and frequenting all the record shops and rock clubs, I was introduced to J Mascis twice. He grunted at me both times. Suffice to say this opening section of the profile in P4k is really resonating (And don’t mean to say he should have done more than grunt) GHC is the best

New Lambchop LP is on the beautiful marbled vinyl, has labels that are completely indecipherable (had to hold in front of a window to read the etching around the label to know which side to start with), and ends with this really eerie locked groove

Inherited a stack of my grandparents LPs recently. This one sounds fresh and is 60 years old. It smells like a basement and somebody hand wrote their surname inside the gatefold. Also 60 years, my grandparents bought this when my mom was a kid

If Wilson and Gasper are unavailable in the first round, and nobody is playing ball in 27 anyways, is there any shot Arias jumps straight into the playoffs? It’s not like service time matters with there being no season next year

Happy John Coltrane centennial to all who are celebrating! He was born September 23, 1926. His music and ethos are a guiding light, exemplars of musical devotion, discipline, discovery, love and transcendence. I humbly share my take on his ballad, “Crescent”.

Congratulations to my Red Sox, who started in the toilet, flew really close to the sun, and have since leveled back to earth. I hope things line up in the playoffs. While we’re on the subject, the celebration photos for this are beyond ridiculous. It’s so expected that all players wear ski goggles..

🚨 the pre-order arrived early 🚨 initial reaction is the Ohio musical genius in a basement striving for something bigger (the stones at their sleaziest/most sinister, certain Primal Scream) but the better cliche is a line about the Drin climbing out of primordial ooze filthy and intoxicating

In grad school I found a Filson 257 in that dark brown shade they don’t do anymore with an eBay auction that ended during the Super Bowl. Let’s just say I got a good price. Been using it ever since and frankly it looks beat to hell. Found this, also on eBay, the other day and I think I’m in love.

You all stopped talking about how excellent this one is, to everyone else that may be late to the party like me, stop what you’re doing and jam this one. Post-punk is the jump off point but there’s so much more than simple labels with it. Up there with Ultra Lights for best rock of 26

This is excellent. For one label or really one studio and group of friends to all be involved in 3 albums (Star Moles, Sam & Louise Sullivan, this) in one year and for all of them to be singular but same vibes, great songs end to end, is amazing. This is some Elephant Six in the 90s level magic

Lambchop, quite possibly the band that has been "one of my favorites" longer than any other, have released a stunning and beautifully minimalist new album in which midway into the first song a DJ tag shouts "LAMBCHOP! NEW SHIT!" and nothing like that ever happens again. Incredible.

it's wild how republicans will be like "governing is bad, also elect me to govern you" and people do and they put their promise into practice and don't govern, run everything off a cliff, bankrupt everyone, light the world on fire, and after a while people forget about that and let them do it again

Arte Moreno bought the Angels in 2003 (the year after they won the Series) for $184 million. He then spent 23 years running them into the ground, let the stadium decay, wasted Trout and Ohtani, and sold for $4 billion. And the owners are crying poverty and threatening to kill baseball next year.
