I grew up reading Jane Yolen books and loving them. The first FAVORITE book I remember having was Commander Toad and the Planet of the Grapes. Lately, I’ve been reading How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You to my four month old baby. The world is a richer and more wonderful place thanks to her work.

Sal Buscema was one of my favorite artists. Between his epic runs on The Defenders and Rom, he drew some of the greatest comics of all time. When you saw a villain’s face contorted into a black trapezoid of a grimace, interrupted by a stalactite of spittle, you knew you were in good hands. RIP Sal.

I read a book where a character was described as having a head shaped “like an upside down potato.” I got so mad I threw the book across the street. After a minute I went and retrieved it, but I’m still mad at the idea that potatoes have a uniform shape OR a right side up.
