What was really cool was that in a span of 4 or five issues on that Defenders run, he went from working with my favorite 70s Kirby inker (Mike Royer) to one of my favorite 60s Kirby inkers (Chic Stone), and you could really see the impact the inks had on his homage.

I grew up reading Jane Yolen books and loving them. The first FAVORITE book I remember having was Commander Toad and the Planet of the Grapes. Lately, I’ve been reading How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You to my four month old baby. The world is a richer and more wonderful place thanks to her work.

Yes! I hate it how often she is pointed to as a tragic story of unrealized potential! She was a brilliant professional writer who wrote a lot and it was all great! No, she didn’t write novels; but poems, reviews, short stories, plays, and screenplays still count as writing!
