There’s a Games Magazine puzzle writer who has several puzzles in each issue. He shares a (very common) name with someone who once hit on a guy I was dating in my presence. I know it’s not him but part of my brain still gets annoyed when I see the name.

I heard of the song maybe 2-3 weeks ago, I think because some news show mentioned it. I'm just not up on pop music generally. I finally listened to the song just now. It's kinda melodic and catchy? Getting 1991 Bonnie Raitt vibes.

I've been reading Max Boot's Reagan biography and it quotes the New York Times about Reagan's massive, radical 1981 tax cut. I looked up the article and it turns out that the day it passed Congress was not only the day of Charles and Diana's wedding, but also the day Robert Moses died.

The TI-99/4a. My 9th birthday present! As with most 1980s home computers, you had to supply your own TV monitor. Other kids had a VIC-20 or a TRS-80 or an Apple, same as our school computer lab. The TI was quirky. Like instead of typing "CLS" to clear the screen it was CALL CLEAR.

In sum: when humans solve major mathematical problems, they gain so much insight along the way; "solving problems is only a tool and proxy for achieving the primary goal of conceptual understanding and insight." When AI solves these problems it cheats humans of going through that process.
