Today marks 25 years as a #professor at my university, and essentially 40 years since I started my journey in #archaeology. So many things in this career so far that I would never have guessed. Who knew?-

Tiny Free Library question— I need advice. I’m looking for fun books with great narrative and accurate science-based foundations. I’ll scatter them among little libraries around my community. Include accurate and useful information about evolution, about archaeology, geology, landscape, and history.

My family now looks forward #caturday each week, as our household has dramatically expanded its cuteness and love.
A Siamese kitten looks out of a basket where it has buried itself in dish towels, with a blue eyes, a back face and ears with a creamy white body. A Siamese kitten sleeps on a green fuzzy blanket underneath a table’s low legs. The kitten snoozes cozily and the view shows its white paws and the pattern of makings on its face, including a black nose on white cheeks and shadowed eyes. Two kitties sleep, snuggled together on a chair cushion. Their heads are at either end side of the seat, but they lay together, keeping each other warm and snug.

With the research station closures, someone can explain how the public will enjoy increased benefits from having science collaboration in the forests/soils of Lake Superior’s Northwoods be relocated to an office in Salt Lake City’s Great Basin desert? As we figure best practice to manage resources?

I see what you did there #FTC and #RTX…. Good job with the #Decode competition about #robotics and #archaeology- you avoided #treasure, #tombs, and grave-robbing tropes. The competition requires the teams to pay attention to the relationships between artifacts, not just collecting things. Well done!

The $1bn annual CRM world relies entirely upon networking for students and new grads to get their foot in the door. This is a serious disadvantage to those that graduate from small programs or in regions that are removed from active CRM fieldwork.

A spectacular bronze head of a griffin went missing from a Greek museum and ended up in the Metropolitan Museum, which is now returning it after research showed it was stolen. Great, you'd think... unless you know this research was done 87 YEARS AGO. 🧵 from your local provenance grump.

It was originally discovered in a river bed in Olympia, in the Peloponnese region of Greece, in 1914 by the curator of the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, but it went missing roughly two decades later, the Met said in a statement. It said research by the Met and Greek authorities showed the antiquity had been stolen."
