Physicist, airburst specialist, planetary defender, & CSI Fellow. I'm critical of the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis (YDIH) which has strong links to global warming denial, creationism, & pseudoarchaeology. It relies on misinformation & fake peer review.

When you vote, keep in mind that every Republican candidate tolerates (or even supports) this mentality. This is their leader. Whatever else you might think about the Democrats in your district or state, this is what they are running against. And this is what the Republicans are running for.

This is exactly what the Tall el-Hammam "Sodom" excavation was about. When they couldn't find evidence for destruction from the sky, they made it up. It's never good to come to your conclusions before you start looking for evidence.

🚨 Ocean temperatures continue to rise. Last month saw the hottest average global sea surface temperature on record for the month of August. Remember, human-caused climate change is the key reason for these new records. Data from NOAA ERSSTv6. I guess next month I will adjust that upper y-axis limit
Green line graph time series of average sea surface temperature anomalies for each August from 1900 through 2026. There is large interannual variability, but an overall long-term increasing trend. Anomalies are computed relative to a 1981-2010 baseline.

Geographic misinfo can be dangerous. The road that Apple Maps calls “County Road 87” is a private drive that’s shared by Balarat (which I own) and Cal-Wood Education Center. On a very hot and windy day I caught a couple guys on that drive standing in dry grass having a smoke next to their car.
