I've been a motion designer for 20 years and Claude's new motion tool definitely has me concerned. Not because it can replace my skillset, but because there are unfortunately clients out there that will see it as an opportunity to cheaply replace genuinely talented people.

A motion designer I follow on Instagram recently posted how they allowed the latest ChatGPT model to have full access to their computer so it could be prompted to do their work for them. This is insane to me, as they are trusting all their private data to Open AI... who are ethically bankrupt!!

I feel sorry for anyone using Gen AI as a method of film making. Some of the best times and experiences in my life have come from filming shorts with friends and learning as a go. Legitimately so much fun and so damn rewarding 🙌

It's crazy to me how some companies are embracing Gen AI in their advertising. Authenticity matters, and all Gen AI does is erode that away to nothing. Mr Q, Secret Escapes, Trivago, Gtech etc are now brands I simply will never trust.

AI used as a way to fill in for skillsets people don't have the patience or passion to learn is also a concern. Cognitive decline has already been connected with high levels of AI reliance. It's refreshing to see that a lot of the younger generation absolutely detest AI 🙂

One of the other long term issues I have with AI usage is the lack of regulation. A time will likely come when we won't be able to tell if footage is real or AI generated which will erode our trust for anything we see online. The spread of misinformation could be absolutely vast (not great already)

An unspoken issue regarding AI is that it provides instant gratification. While that might sound great to some, it's killing people's patience and deep focus skills. AI, the low effort slot machine is turning a lot of users into dopamine addicts.
