Work at root of migrant dignity

I read lan Dunt's
impassioned piece ("Let asylum seekers work", My View, 21 August) and heartily agreed with every word.
Give people back their dignity and let them work; tap into the extraordinary resource of skilled and motivated people, desperate to find safety and a secure life and who will repay the opportunity with an enthusiasm for work which seems to be lacking in this rich entitled country. We depict ourselves via the popular press as willing participators in the malicious, self-interested bile that pours out from political animals of every stripe.
Shame on us. Turn the tide and let the world hear the voices of the large numbers of kind, compassionate and principled
people who still call themselves British.

As a volunteer with Herts Welcomes Refugees and teacher of English in one of the hotels, I can only say that all the people it has been my privilege to meet, just want to perfect their language skills so they can be productive members of society and pay their taxes like everyone else.

Hotel does not warrant such an extreme, hateful reaction to perfectly decent individuals.
