Cosplay progress galore from yesterday! Finished a skirt for a Halloween costume and finally got started on Aramis's underlayer. Boots, pants, and belt are stand-ins but wow I was BUSY. Felt so good though.

We got some fabulous fabrics from a local fabric shop today for an absolute steal and I am SO EXCITED. The green is for a Halloween costume (you'll see), the light blue for Mur for Jinshi, the greenish canvas is for me for Innes (FINALLY, FINALLY, A FABRIC I LIKED), and the maroon is for Maomao 👀

four folded fabrics on the floor: a green poly poplin, a greenish blue canvas, a blue poly satin, and a maroon poly satin. The satin fabrics are a little shiny and floral.

I took a whopping zero work in progress pics of this, but I finished an overnight tote bag I've been working on for a couple months! Pattern is the Oxbow tote by noodlehead.

Tangela wraps their vines holding up their Miso bowl with a shiny Tatsugiri bathing in their meal.

So apropos of nothing in particular, let’s talk about media tie-in novel pay vs. original work pay, shall we? Let’s say you write a novel. It’s set in your own world, your own characters, and titled The Original. You get a book deal! Look at you go!

A Message from Maya... #store www.gofundme.com/f/help-maya-...

Hey, y’all. First of all, I want to say thank you for the outpouring of love and support you have shown us after we shared our predicament. Your kindness has truly moved me in ways I can’t even begin to describe. At the beginning of last week, this felt like a truly unsurmountable situation, but your support has given me hope.

That being said, we’re not out of the woods yet. Our recent skirt presales, giftcard sales and the GoFundMe have helped a TON but we are still facing a very scary October—and unfortunately not the fun Halloween kind!

Sales and donations have slowed down since last week, so while we have enough cash on hand to make our first few payments to UPS, we don’t have anywhere near enough to cover the entire bill.

To avoid this situation in the future, we’re planning to take on a new loan so we can place a large order of printed skirts that should arrive in time for the holidays, but that means we won’t have that money available to us to pay off UPS. We may also need to do presale on some or all of those skirt designs, but we’ll deal with that when the time comes.

The fact that we can even add this to our plans and look to the future in this way is a huge testament to how much you have already helped us.

What you can do to help us:

I know that for the vast majority of you, you have already made the purchases or donations that you are willing and able to do, and for that I cannot thank you enough. What we really need now is visibility. As a small business with not a lot of time or money on our hands, we rely almost entirely on word of mouth marketing. Sharing or engaging with our posts on your preferred social platforms helps immensely, and so does sharing us with your friends, family, and acquaintances in real life. If there are any creators out there that you think would like our size inclusive, ethically made clothing, consider recommending us to them! (Though please keep it chill and do not spam anyone)

To close this out, once again I just want to say how much I appreciate all the love and kindness y’all have shown us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Dolly Partons IMAGINATION LIBRARY

Dear Imagination Library Graduate,

My, how time flies. It seems it was only yesterday when your family and friends read you your first story. You were just a baby. Now you're five years old and about to go to school. How exciting!
This may be your last book from my Imagination Library but you have to promise me you will keep on reading. If you go to your local public library you will find a great number of books just for kids your age. Every book is a treasure and every time you open one up you will meet new friends and take wonderful journeys to magical places.
I hope you have a great time in school. I bet your school will even have a library where you can check out books. You and all of your friends are very special. There is no limit to what you can do or how far you can go.

Just remember the lessons my family taught me - dream big dreams; learn everything you can learn; and care for all those who care for you. You do all of these things and you can be anyone you want to be.

You are terrific, and remember...
I Will Always Love You,
Dolly
