It's rarely ever out of malice or purpose that we are kept out of the room; it's that we aren't thought of at all, and that's worse. And then, by some chance, we are thought of; decisions get made without ever inviting us back in.

As Grant mentions, during the pandemic, accessibility was a core growing part of the industry. But over time, it started to decline. I went from earning six figures for the first time in 2022 to making barely above the poverty line in 2025 We are burning out, and the industry barely cares.

~20+ yrs ago someone contacted us about their lost Sheltie. Fortunately the dog was found and the person went on to become a trusted foster/volunteer/board member. We’re thrilled that their now adult child is a second generation adopter! 12yo Skylar, whose person passed away, has found love again!💞
