Sock Monkey was thrilled to learn that he’s been honored with a public art installation - we spotted this contemporary sculpture on a dog walk at a park this weekend! The likeness is remarkable! #crafts 🧶 #animalart

This is a photo of a metal post, originally painted white but now with peeling paint spots. The top of the post is rounded, with a slight bulge near the top, resembling a sporty headband. On either side of the post, below the headband, is a rusty metal loop (one on each side), resembling ears that are askew. On its L side, the post has a rusty metal arm bent as if it has its hand on its hip. On the R side, across from the bent arm, is a rusty chain that hangs down limply m like a second arm.

This is a photo of Sock Monkey handsewn from a brown cotton sock with a few colorful stripes. Sock Monkey has a red headband, black button eyes, and a long body. His right ear is lower than his left ear. He has his right arm bent in a triangular shape, his paw on his hip; his left arm hangs limply at his side.

Ebi met salmon special: Sal, a neurosturgeon who schooled at Whale University! A reel music lover, he enjoys live Phish, sole music, & Wu Tang Clam. Favorite movies to stream are The Cod Father & Karate Squid. And he’s reading Their Eyes Were Watching Cod! #porkpuns #needlefelt #artyear #smartist 🧶

Two small, colorful, needlefelted sushi rolls sit side by side against a heathered lavender background. On the L is Sal, a salmon maki roll. Sal has green & yellow avocado & cucumber rolled in white rice with a black nori wrap. Sal’s smiling face is visible in the white rice, above the cucumber & avocado. Sal also has a piece of orange & white raw salmon resting on top of his roll. On the L is Ebi Roll, a shrimp maki roll with a smiling face & pink cheeks. Ebi has green & yellow avocado & orange carrot rolled in white rice with a black nori wrap. On Ebi’s head is a pale orange & white cooked shrimp with a bright orange tail. Both Sal & Ebi have little black outstretched arms that look like they are ready for hugging.

After months (I am embarrassed to say how many!) I finished this moth earlier this week in my art class, in prismacolor pencil. The blue in the background started out navy before I blended it with white. #acoloradaypril #smArtist #adaptation #artyear #artshare #drawing #onlybeautifulthings

This is a prismacolor pencil drawing of a light green & purple Spanish moon moth. The moth has 4 “eyes” that are purple & black with a bit of green & yellow. The moth has delicate, feathery antennae & a furry-looking brown & yellow body. The moth is perched on a leafy green plant against a background that is bluish, purplish, & white in places.

My daughter needlefelted these gnomes to hide in our friend’s garden for an Easter hunt this Sunday. One has a pepperoni pizza stuck in its beard; the other 2 have manic panic streaks in their beards. And all 3 have very #tan noses! #acoloradaypril #craftsbykids #needlefelt #woolart 🧶 #crafts

Three colorful little wool gnomes are lined up in size order. The largest gnome (L) has a yellow hat, red body, & gray beard with a pepperoni pizza stuck to it. The medium-sized gnome (middle) has a blue hat, red body, & white beard with a purple streak running through it. The smallest gnome (R) has a magenta hat, blue body, & white beard with a magenta streak. All 3 gnomes have tanned noses. They are lined up against a white cableknit backdrop.

Monday morning status update (a city sidewalk snapped on a dog walk this weekend). #sensoryart #faces #smartist

Two bright yellow spots of paint (the “eyes”) on a concrete sidewalk appear above a horizontal seam (the “mouth”) in the sidewalk. The effect is of a face with a mouth set in a grim line.

Meet Carol (Broccoli) & Cate (Caterpillar Roll)! Carol thinks it’s so rice to have a friend like Cate, who is saucy & spicy! Plus Cate is a style roll model! Just look at her adorable seaweed wrap (a versatile accessory for chilly days)! #acoloradaypril (lime green) #porkpuns #needlefelt #woolart 🧶

Two needlefelted friends sit side by side. On the R is a broccoli with a big green bouffant hairdo (resembling Carol Burnett) & a lime green stalk. The broccoli has a smiling face with pink cheeks, as well as little legs. On the L is a caterpillar sushi roll with a smiling face, pink cheeks, and 2 outstretched arms. The caterpillar roll wears a slice of green avocado on its head, with orange tobiko sprinkled on top. The roll has white rice, green cucumbers, & unagi.

What could be more #gray than wet concrete on an overcast day? Roxy managed to find a spot of sun, though. #acoloradaypril #petportraits #dog #dogs #dogsofbluesky #germanshepherds #rescuedogs

A black & tan German Shepherd dog in a red harness stands over a wet, gray concrete sidewalk. The reflection of the sun is visible in the puddle beneath the dog’s belly. The dog’s hind legs & midsection are also reflected in the puddle, as is the leafy canopy of a tree.

I spent Saturday making floral centerpieces for a milestone bday party. This one has pale #pink butterfly ranunculus & a pale pink rose, plus red & yellow ranunculus, green hydrangea, & blue germander (I snipped the germander from my garden). #acoloradaypril #flowers #onlybeautifulthings #artyear

This is a photo, taken from above, of a colorful floral arrangement. The compact arrangement features pink butterfly ranunculus, a large pale pink rose, green hydrangea, yellow & red ranunculus, blue germander, and a variety of other green & magenta blooms.

This is a winter tree against a moody, ombre sky, snapped this evening near Denver. #smArtist #artyear #onlybeautifulthings #scape

The dark silhouette of a bare tree is seen against a stormy sky. The sky is blue-gray near the top of the photo, broken up by swirls of white clouds, with the sky fading to a warm, yellow-tinged white near the base of the tree.

Banana heard the veggies are going bananas over hatha yogurt & decided to give it a try. But even though Banana tried each yogurt pose a bunch of times, its efforts were fruitless! Banana kept slipping out of the poses, & in the end it just felt bruised. #smArtist #produce #needlefelt 🧶 #porkpuns

Four anthropomorphized veggies & 1 anthropomorphized fruit needlefelted from wool are lined up on a bookshelf. From left to right: a purple eggplant with a yellow headband, a white & green cauliflower, a green broccoli, a yellow partially-peeled banana, & a green avocado with a brown pit. All have smiling faces with pink cheeks. The eggplant, broccoli, & banana are upside down, attempting headstands. Behind them, multi-colored book spines are visible.

Unspecified members of my family like to move Sock Monkey around our house, so that he’ll be hogging your bed, losing your page in a book, snarfing your snacks, or using your digital devices. Last week, this is how I found him: trying to hack into my laptop. #craft 🧶 #pranks #jokes #humor #funny

A Sock Monkey handsewn from brown cotton socks with colorful stripes sits with his arms outstretched over a computer keyboard. He has black button eyes & a sporty red headband.

This is a little cat trinket bowl that I felted this week using wool roving & waxed book binding thread (for the whiskers). #makersmARTch #felt 🧶 #needlefelt #needlefelting #wool #woolart #tinyart #artyear #cat #smArtist #animalart

This image depicts a little felted wool trinket bowl where the bowl is a wide-open cat’s mouth. The cat is a pale gray wool heathered with lavender-y shades. Inside the mouth, a light pink tongue is visible. On the outside of the rounded bowl, the cat’s pink nose & white muzzle are visible. The muzzle has white whiskers (made from waxed book-binding thread). The cat’s pointed gray ears are also visible. The cat rests on a piece of turquoise felt fabric.

This image shows the face of the gray felted wool cat, which is on one side of the trinket bowl. The cat has closed eyes & a wide-open mouth. The cat bowl is held by a few fingers of a hand & is against a bright turquoise felt fabric.
