Your periodic reminder that vaccines save lives. The last winter I found data for (2024-25) had AT LEAST half a million hospitalization for the flu (US) and 40,000 deaths (again US).

Adventures in flu shots part 3 I sat in my car after getting vaccinated and flapped my arms and I’ve had very little pain. Best of all I probably won’t get flu this year and if I do get it I will probably get a mild case and am less likely to be hospitalized! Fin

Adventures with flu shots part 2 When I got my vaccine they offer a $5 off coupon. I needed a few things anyway so I took one. When I presented it at the cashier the register wouldn’t accept it because the coupon expired two months ago. 🙄

Adventures with flu shots part 1 You can be a middle age grown up and if you ask for stickers they’ll give you one, or, if you’re lucky, a whole set of them! I’m planning to wear them to the farmers market, the dentist and wherever else I go in public for the next week.

I didn’t feel bad at all - just the usual sore arm. But most vaccines don’t bother me much so your mileage may vary. COVID mRNA is the big exception.

I’ve done cat rescue for 15 years, and worked in the bougie pet food industry. Your cat cannot be vegan. Period, full stop. You can’t supplement your cat safely on a vegan diet. The vegan cat food you see on the shelf, it’s a chemical cocktail that’s not good for your cat.

It's ctenophores day in America! Here's a not great picture I took at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Three 2 tailed ctenophores . Each has an elongated spherical body. These are translucent with pale lines and a bright structure in the center of the body. Each has two pale yellow tails, a little longer than the body.

My first dog (as an adult) was a Doberman. The was a forested trail near our house. When we encountered off leash dogs and the person would yell that they were friendly I would always yell back that mine wasn’t. (He was but people would freak out because Dobe = scary)
