The critically-endangered Tapanuli orangutan was only discovered in 2017, and only around 650 remain after recent landslides killed an estimated 58 of them - a huge proportion of the species wiped out in one disaster.
An image of a young Tapanuli orangutan, with a reddish-brown face and orange hair, in a leafy green tree in Batang Toru, Indonesia. On one side of the image, the following text is superimposed: The critically-endangered Tapanuli orangutan was only discovered in 2017.

Only around 650 remain.

Here’s the situation - and how to save them.

Climate change is impacting global food systems, so why aren’t supermarkets taking it more seriously? Especially US supermarkets like Kroger, Costco, Walmart, Albertsons, and Publix which are performing worse than European counterparts at tackling superheating methane emissions.

Who decides what’s on your plate? Supermarkets decide what's on shelves, what's promoted, what's affordable, and what's visible. That means they can support climate-friendly, deforestation-free foods. The question isn't whether supermarkets have influence. It's whether they'll use it. 🌱

The proposal to remove leather from the #EUDR creates a ridiculous loophole...it means meat from cattle reared on deforested land would be banned, but the cow skins and hides would not. The two are intrinsically linked – to put it bluntly, the meat can’t be accessed until the skin is removed.
