Even UFODefense likes differ - I like the breakdown of the system in youtu.be/webCYDddZDQ?..., and the UFOpedia has a nice breakdown. Acc being a char trait+One shot misses, but I take a dozen really removes the sting. X2's damage calc never made sense though since a hit is *so* swingy and deadly.

That engines can just be swapped or that some have an implicit "better." An engine is a tool not a solution, and what's vastly more important is if the team has familiarity and a pipeline to use that tool. And that's before considering how much of a box engine gets rewritten for a game's use case

I know 9 episode premium is the template, but Persona would be fucking perfect for 25 40min episodes of Yu's Declassified, complete with filler episodes and detached comedy B-plots slow-burning the team dynamic. There's even in-universe justification for the traditional ep14 beach and ep19 musical

I mainly think Verse is a worse tool for most of the cases that Vis Scripting fits, and if the goal is to just get more people into code then another half step there doesn't make a ton of sense. If there's some step of conceptualizing vis script into text script to help that learning that would help

If I was in control of a decade long run as the default engine with a pipeline of resources around making game logic in a visual scripting tool that entrenches people in its design I don't think I would announce that I'm killing it to go back to a text script in the coming years and expect applause

Got hired. Told I'd have to move. Delayed to end of my lease working fine remote. Move halfway across the country, lose a paycheck to expenses that exceeded reimbursement, lose work/life benefits as the studio goes to crunch, get laid off five months later stuck in a state with worse unemployment

I did have a floor rate but my first layoff was in a high CoL and I honestly was just focused on using severance to make the difference until the move. There were low rates that just didn't match experience/expectations and I avoided those. I was looking for fair pay, just maybe not my market rate.

Ideally covering cost of living+insurance+taxes, but if it could carry me through the lease some of that could change. Figured I could reevaluate pay in the future but needed something to contribute
