Bob Siegel was one of my @walksf.org #Peak2PeakSF guides a number of years ago, and I’ve loved seeing him in person and in the news in the years since! Thanks @peterhartlaub.bsky.social for this great profile www.sfchronicle.com/totalsf/arti...

Why are so many people walking across San Francisco? This tireless 86-year-old is the answer
Why are so many people walking across San Francisco? Thank Bob Siegel, a tireless 86-year-old who built the city’s ultimate walk.

I know Connie has become the “Democratic Establishment’s Choice” in this race, and the context of this event being hosted by a ML board member is at the very least “awkward”, but some pushback/curiosity would have been helpful here.

-Would you consider running for this Congressional seat if Connie won but later moved on to something else? -Have you talked with Connie about her long-term political opportunities?

I don’t know if the Mission Local board member who hosted this partisan event prohibited the reporter from asking follow-up questions, but I think the public would have benefitted from hearing Christine’s answers to ones like:

My comment on the missionlocal.org post didn't pass moderation, so I guess I'll post it here (in parts): “I’m not running against [Connie Chan], ever” is a pretty precisely-worded statement, and it’s not the same thing as saying “I’m not running for this Congressional seat, ever.”

Agree strongly with with the @sfchronicle.com editorial board’s endorsement of @scottwiener.bsky.social for CA-11, and with Dolores Huerta’s words: “I know the difference between a politician who talks about justice and one who fights for it.” www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/edit...

Endorsement: Who should replace Nancy Pelosi in Congress? It’s not even a choice
OPINION: The most intriguing thing about the race between Scott Wiener and Connie Chan to fill Nancy Pelosi’s House seat is that it has become a race at all, the editorial board writes.

There’s been a lot of talk in this race about what makes a "real man." A man does what’s right when no one is watching. He upholds his commitments to his family and neighbors. He doesn’t lie, cheat, & steal his way through life. Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.

I might not be understanding the complexities fully, but it seems like Sup. Shamann Walton holding up a public improvement that WAS binding, in order to try and get more goodies that were promised but explicitly noted as NOT binding? Anyway, great job, San Francisco
That never happened. Meanwhile, with the $1 million not forthcoming, Supervisor Shamann Walton held up the encroachment permit needed to finish the stairs, according to city officials involved in the discussions, who said the hold up was a response to the open space improvement money being withheld. Walton did not return a call or text seeking comment.
