Schedules permitted, this week's episode is going to be one for the ages as we indulge in Marxist analysis of a single sentence in Moby-Dick.

Have you ever wanted to stick a bike pump up a walrus? The Horniman Museum holds the specimen you need. Hunted in the 1870s and overstuffed by a bemused Victorian taxidermist, it was displayed at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition in London in 1886 where Queen Victoria fell in love with it.

Moby Dick: The 19th-Century novel that challenged our fear of the 'monstrous' whale
Now 175 years old, US author Herman Melville's classic is the ultimate tale of man v whale – but in fact, it questions why humans have been so terrified of these great sea creatures.

moby dick is so funny
footnote at the bottom of a page: I am aware that down to the present time, the fish styled Lamantins and Dugongs (Pig-fish and Sow-fish of the Coffins of Nantucket) are included by many naturalists among the whales. But as these pig-fish are a nosy, contemptible set, mostly lurking in the mouths of rivers, and feeding on wet hay, and especially as they do not spout, I deny their credentials as whales; and have presented them with their passports to quit the Kingdom of Cetology.
