Depends on the context. Any of them could work within canon given the right adjustments. I’d argue a few iconic EU characters shifted course from initial iterations and going back to those versions might be “easier” for some. Hell, if—God willing, WHEN—given the chance I got a fun idea for Lord Nyax

Absolutely. Art reflects the era in which it's made. Some aspects are timeless, others specific. Thrawn is easy, his defining character qualities are personal. Jade, on the other hand, is very much tied to the Emperor & Luke. So she provides a challenge to make new and remain definitively herself.

I will say that Thrawn was handled nicely. Mara Jade would be a soap opera in the story and in the fandom. None or very few of the popular EU characters could be sensibly brought in without significant changes to their back story and then the EU purists would throw a galactic fit.

Very much yes. Thrawn was integrated very well into the new canon with minimal changes. Mara Jade would basically be an entirely new character if they added her to the new canon.

This can be answered with just the movies.. Palpatine groomed him like he did Anakin, so yes, if the old Sith wasn't around, Ben wouldn't have needed redeemed, cause he wouldn't have fell in the first place.

These Sith were originally created to be akin to Egyptian pharaohs, so I think having them be restricted to that role is for the best. They add a history of past glory to the Sith, of grand temples with lingering sorceries capable of reshaping stars, of warlords whose legacies have scarred planets.

Two options: -No redemption, let him be evil Renperor and/or Failperor. I was SO excited for this in IX, to be honest. He went beyond Darth Vader in VIII. -Let his reign somehow help/be beneficial to the galaxy and flummox the Resistance...while still being on the Dark Side (or grey).

Kylo Ren should've been a tragic figure, not a redeemed one. Rey shutting him out at the end of TLJ was the end of his redemption. His storyline in the last movie should've been him going deeper into the Sithosphere with his Knights of Ren because he killed or drove off everyone who wanted to help.

Yes There would always be a greater evil that would've pushed Ben's turn to the light a little further. Bendemption is literally one of only 2 thematic through lines to actually pay off in all 3 movies. The other being Poe's growth as a leader.

I think if the Sith Eternal had been brought in at the beginning and the First Order had been their proxy army, with Snoke being a failed attempt to clone Palpatine, and Ben being their next try at creating a Sith Lord. When Ben realizes he’s being manipulated he turns against them.

My unpopular Star Wars opinion is and has always been, Episode 9 should’ve started with the big battle that ends the war, so the remaining 3/4 of the movie could be Kylo Ren and Hux in a trial at space Nuremberg. This is no judgment on what we actually got, I just think it would’ve been neat.

Kylo's weakness is that he cares for people. He acts like the big bad evil guy but he does truly care and is constantly fighting the pull to the light. Embrace that. Use his love for his family and Rey weighted against the evils of the First Order and his lust for power

Something i sorta like about TROS is that Kylo doesn’t turn good until after he dies. Rey kills Kylo, he’s literally dead. And it’s Ben who comes back. And it follows of course that Ben has to do one heroic thing before dying, thus earning some measure of redemption. Conceptually, it works for me.
