The final House results have now landed as 220-215 for the GOP. That means the House majority came down to the 3 NC seats the GOP flipped thanks to its brand new gerrymander. And that gerrymander hinged on NC's supreme court flipping in 2022. I wrote this last month: boltsmag.org/state-suprem...

After securing a majority on the North Carolina Supreme Court in 2022, Republican justices promptly overturned a ruling that had struck down GOP gerrymanders, paving the way for their party’s lawmakers to draw a new map designed to hand them several congressional districts. By then, Democrats already had no recourse outside of state courts: This U.S. Supreme Court has shut the door on complaints of partisan gerrymandering proceeding in federal courts.

The maneuver paid off last week. The GOP flipped three U.S. House seats, a windfall in light of that chamber’s tiny overall margin.

Wore my BART sweater today, and I think this is why the transit gods blessed me. Took 2 BART rides and 2 MUNI rides, and never waited more than 2 min at any point, even without looking at the transit times on the way into SF! Truly a holiday miracle.

It should be emphasized just how obscene the Gaetz nom is. He's unqualified, unfit, & was recently investigated for sex trafficking. He faces accusations of paying for sex & sexual misconduct w/ a minor. That there's even a chance he gets confirmed as the top law enforcement official is shameful.

Today is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. It took elected officials about 10 minutes to read the 300+ names of individuals killed by drivers in the last 10 years in San Francisco. Vision Zero was passed 10 years ago in San Francisco, yet this year may be the deadliest on record.

Full disclosure, I wanted O'Malley to win the presidential primary in 2015, but I also absolutely don't think he's right for this. It should be someone like Ben Wikler, who has experience in running campaigns in purple states. O'Malley's record, esp as Bmore mayor, is too much of a liability.
