our culture is corrosive to queer history - itll efface it and rewrite it at every turn. we gotta know what happened and tell each other about it those silly little guys in their dorky costumes were a revolution and the world tried to make them a joke, then stole them from us as soon as they could

Judge: 'Probable cause' to hold U.S. in contempt over Alien Enemies Act deportations
The government sent several planeloads of alleged gang members to El Salvador, including 137 people under the act, the White House said at the time.

Marc Silvestri really said "I'm gonna give the gays everything they want" when he came back for #newxmen, huh? #comics #xmen #theywereathroupleyall
The Silvestri-drawn cover to "New X-Men" #151, starring mostly Wolverine's mutant dumper in blue jeans. Also a far-future skyline, but it's hard to see beyond the yellow-and-black-spandex-clad mountain that is Logan's back.

Oh, if only the Stepford Cuckoos knew how fast things can go sideways into dystopia. #xmen #newxmen #comics
In "Here Comes Tomorrow," the surviving Stepford Cuckoos bemoan the dark future they inhabit.

"In our dreams we have seen a new Dark Age. Seen all history set back a thousand years by ignorance and war. Seen, worse than all these, a terrible flaw at the heart of things.""How did this happen so quickly?" they ask in unison.

This is evil and awful and trans people everywhere deserve better than what's happening right now. And I think it's impossible to overtstate the pivotal role that JK Rowling played in mainstreaming hateful and false ideas about trans people. Every dollar you give her goes toward efforts like this.

A certain genre of straight liberal is mad they can't call people the f-slur and t-slur in polite company anymore, and they're willing to take any chance they can--with plausible deniability, of course, because they're not just bigots, they're also cowards--to preserve their sense of superiority.

Just so we’re clear, everybody calling Kilmar Abrego Garcia a “terrorist” or a “gang member” are lying, and they know they’re lying, and they repeat it for purposes of confusing people who don’t follow this stuff closely into accepting what was done to him.

I see it. I have lived it. 83 years ago, the U.S. government turned upon a group of its own citizens and residents and sent them to internment camps without due process. I was there among them. American fascism is back. It is here. It is now.
A tweet by Sarah Longwell (@SarahLongwell25

Other people have already said this, but the next step is for courts to enjoin the admin from sending any more detainees abroad. There is no “oopsie we can’t” response for that. I’m not sure anyone in particular can be held in contempt in the current impasse, but that would be good too.

DNC should be bringing up articles of impeachment any and every time Trump blatantly breaks the law. Articles won't move forward, but putting the GOP majority on record for refusing to defend the Constitution is more substantive than any of the other purely symbolic nonsense they've *been* doing.

Some of the big ideas I've been associated with in my career:
1. Supply and demand applies to housing
2. People like politicians who take popular positions
3. Police help prevent crime
4. The Orange Man is bad
5. China's large population matters a lot for power politics

Matthew Yglesias (reply to above post)

I sincerely cannot think of a less provocative, less trolly thinker than Yglesias whose whole thing is mostly just to insist that obviously true things are in fact true.
