There are 54 U22 players in the SHL this season and here are the leading scorers so far: (Berglund is 20 and Westergard just turned 19)

Don’t hate these lines. TK+MM39 is interesting to me. Esp for TK. That’s an avenue to maximize TK’s production in a way that he’s never had before. Dvo can be a good support system for both players. That said, he struggled to finish the works of art MM put on his tape in preseason.

Hard to ignore that the Flyers are missing 3 key elements: -Compete -Chemistry -Speed All 3 were the strengths of their two best players in camp: Luchanko and Knuble. Flyers FO spurned the “players dictate the rebuild” maxim to hand Bump and Martone roster spots and now the team looks listless…

Also right away the Bruins goalie had one heckuva game. The score probably should have been much higher. JWoll made sure not to be outdone though with that ending sequence to preserve the shutout 👏

Big takeaways from tonight: - Michkov looks poised for a big rebound season, he continues to look great - Knuble is making it real tough for the Flyers to keep him off the final roster - The Flyers have a legit backup/1B goalie now!

I have a hunch Cole Knuble will deservedly make the Flyers roster out of camp but be sent to the AHL after his NHL ☕ The Phantoms schedule doesn't pick up until w/o Oct. 11, a rare 4 game week in the AHL. If they send him down then, Knuble would be avail for 6-7 NHL games and only miss 2-3 in AHL.

Have to disagree on Jiricek. I think @charlieoconn.bsky.social’s analysis of Jiricek’s preseason G1 was fair: more good than bad but meh overall. That sounds right. He’s very clearly a work in progress. IMO waiving him is not an option. At all. There are a few reasons why:

Jay @theflyersprism.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

IMO Knuble is going to make the Flyers roster for Opening Night. He'll prob find himself in Lehigh by Halloween, maybe Thanksgiving, if he finds a little offensive hot streak out of the gate. Both things (making the team out of camp and eventually going to AHL) are the best thing for him.

Idea: Maybe we shouldn't be treating 7th grade girls volleyball like the Thunderdome? It's not just bad for the parents (who hate each other due to playing time) and culture (watch ESPN for ten seconds), it burns out the kids and makes them worse adults AND athletes. Sports are supposed to be fun!

I'll say one thing, actually two, about Jiricek: he has excellent vision, and his outlet passing is equally excellent.

Gauthier is a UFA at the end of this deal. Between now and then, the Ducks have the most top heavy cap structure in the NHL with $34M paid to 2 young stars, and probably the thinnest blue line in the NHL. Will Cutter ask out of ANA before the end of that deal?

It seems the post-Rookie Series dialogue around the Flyers is universally positive, which I cannot remember ever happening. On Flyers Daily, @bmeltzer.bsky.social points out how many of the players being praised were drafted outside the 1st round, which IMO is the big news story.

It sounds like Bonk will more than likely go to AHL where he can develop as a big TOI D. Playing in a 3rd pair rotation w/Jiricek (and Benoit) doesn't make as much sense for him RN as playing top pair, PP1, PK1 in AHL. Not on this list (bc he doesn't qualify) David Jiricek.

Incredibly excited for Flyers/Sixers new arena but can't help but be depressed by the insane spending that will see a $400M renovation that was completed in 2025 be demolished in 2030. (Or shortly thereafter.) Just feels wasteful. 🫤

This is a great interview by Kevin and it's clear that Toc learned from some of his miscues last year. That said, I think he's 100% right that the Michkov dynamic last year was "overblown." I think that's an understatement really. I'm hopeful that Philly media will ignore that X weirdos this year!

Jay @theflyersprism.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

Bold Prediction: Denver Barkey finishes the season at 3C, Noah Cates at 4LW. Cates-Couturier-Acciari is the Flyers 2nd most deployed line by TOI.

Jay @theflyersprism.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

Good profile of Berglund, but I'll admit I'm disappointed that he went back to SHL. Seemed like a long shot for him to play in AHL this year, but I think it would'v been better for his development to start getting used to small ice on a team where he would've been a marquee player on the depth chart

Listened to @phlyflyers.bsky.social Sanheim Pod from last week. @charlieoconn.bsky.social "If you can get a 65 pt/yr PP1D who isn't as good defensively as Sanheim but brings more offense to the table and isn't going to be winning Norris but is a clear-cut T20 defenseman. I think that works."

110

Jay @theflyersprism.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

Good one from @kingjmusicman.bsky.social. Where I disagree across all 3 is more about line balance / chemistry than Coach favoritism / line ranking. For instance, I don't think it's a given that Risto will play on the top pair w/Sanheim. If it's obvious in camp that Drysdale had a big summer...

If the Flyers were to have FIVE 25+ goal scorers this season (Tippett, TK, Foerster, Zegras, Michkov, Martone and Bump all conceivable candidates) it would be the first time since 1984-85. The season I was born. I'm 41 w/two kids and a bad back, gang!

Travis Konecny had a perfectly fine 2025-26 season overall. But in the wake of late-season injuries and playoff struggles, might Konecny benefit from a slightly diminished role?
