On #ThrowbackThursday, you can file this under "Vintage Stuff I’d Love to Have." I spotted this fabulous chair at Vintage Grind House in Chicago. I couldn't take it home, but there was NO WAY I was leaving without a picture. A gal can dream, can't she? 😂 #VintageFurniture #VintageFinds

I found this 1933 Lux ad featuring Wynne Gibson (the namesake for my new kitten, Winnie) while flipping through Photoplay. Lux launched its U.S. toilet soap in 1925 and became famous for Hollywood endorsements. Today, the Unilever brand is still sold in 100+ countries! #VintageAds #ClassicHollywood

Today on #FoodieFriday, I'm trying Hummingbird Cake! I first tasted this cake last week at Chef Art Smith's Reunion at Chicago's Navy Pier and it was DELICIOUS! Its roots are generally traced to Jamaica, and it became a Southern favorite after a 1978 @southernliving.com recipe. Wish me luck! 😋

Things I was frightened of when I was a child (non-trauma edition): My brother shining a flashlight upward, and then slowly bringing his hand down over it. I mean, he was right there in front of me, so I knew there was nothing to fear, but that looming shadow was creepy as all hell to me.

Ida Lupino in Buddy Westmore’s make-up chair—being “trollop-ized” in the words of Paramount’s publicity department—while working on “The Light That Failed” (1939)
Lupino sits in make up chair, upper body covered with a protective sheet. Westmore leans over her, applying makeup under her left eye. A counter covered in jar, bottles and makeup tools is immediately behind them.

Original caption:
TROLLOP-IZING--It isn't' a new Hollywood diet, but a type of makeup that gives a slovenly appearance to a lovely young girl. Ida Lupino undergoes the treatment at the hands of "Buddy" Westmore for her role in Paramount's "The Light That Failed." The young English actress plays the immortal Bessie role in William A. Wellman's filmization of the Kipling classic.
