I found this 1933 Lux ad featuring Wynne Gibson (the namesake for my new kitten, Winnie) while flipping through Photoplay. Today on #FoodieFriday, I'm trying Hummingbird Cake! I first tasted this cake last week at Chef Art Smith's Reunion at Chicago's Navy Pier and it was DELICIOUS! Its roots are generally traced to Jamaica, and it became a Southern favorite after a 1978 @southernliving.com recipe. Wish me luck! 😋

I found this 1908 Household Discoveries and Mrs. Curtis's Cook Book in my grandmother's attic, and I could spend hours looking through it. And I love the recipes -- except they often don't provide oven temps or baking times. This sugar-cookie recipe simply ends with: “Bake quickly.” 😂 #oldbooks
