I'm happy to report that it's not something either Ata or Sir Corbyn will have to deal with in Raven & Bear. However, that leaves me a little stumped. I think they'd both be baffled by it and then get punching.
No sense tolerating intolerance.

Thankfully, Ata quickly halted and asked what was wrong once that trainee handmaiden pulled back. This girl whimpered in response, clearly terrified by the mysterious “forbidden wing”.
“It’s haunted,” their fingers hooked onto one another’s as Dina leant in to whisper a ghost story, “people say King Tewdrig’s sister died of an illness when they were children. She was locked inside this part of the castle, still is. Princess Rhith.”

“Ata, sorry, Princess Ata.” This young man bowed forward, a fist held over his heart, “I’m afraid my name is Marrok now.”
Neither spoke further as shields were raised in front of the princess and a firm hand dragged her back. Marrok was leaner, hair no longer rusted spikes but coils of polished copper. Ata felt a wooden block pressed tight around each wrist, heavy on a neck far frailer then. Drenched by rain, she shivered. Not yet dry despite years of warmth. His eyes lowered, heavy with regret.
Princess Ceindrych had finally stood, “he came to us, a wolf with no name and was given another to make him a man again.”
“You knighted him?” A bear-like rumble echoed in Ata’s chest.
“He’s an ordained paladin.” This diminutive girl held onto Marrok’s elbow and elaborated, “he saved me from the dog-head bandits and after months of study passed the Chivalric Measure.”
“If I may speak-”
“I’m not sure you may,” She cut him off with an ursine scowl, then sighed as the man flinched, “but I suppose if you need to.”
“I do.” That lake-blue stare wrinkled in careful consideration of each word before he spoke them, “I’m sorry. You have every right to hate me, but through God I am trying to be better.”

The Knightbane’s Prize
Storms had flooded the castle courtyard for nearly a week. Despite this, an impressive crowd was gathered around a pillory on top of a small stage. A young girl dangled from her punishment, so short she could not stand while trapped in that wooden block. An older woman handed out spoiled food then invited others to throw it. Between this child and the downpour, none noticed when an old knight paused under a nearby archway.
Sir Corbyn stood a foot shorter than most men. His slender frame was wrapped in wiry muscles, well hidden by a breastplate in need of new paint. The gambeson beneath it split into a half-skirt which shielded those skinny legs from behind. Unlike other knights, who often employed young men to hold their weapons, he carried them on either hip.
The first, a hand-and-half sword, was sheathed in a cloth wrapped scabbard. A gloved hand rested on its flat handle, which was tightly bound by a strip of leather. His thumb thoughtfully flicked across that coin shaped pommel while he watched them hurl rotten cabbage. Another sheath held a hollow rod of iron, backed by a wooden stock. When a young man approached this girl with a sharpened stick, Sir Corbyn drew his second weapon.

A gloom heavier than night curtained this baleful wood around him, for so densely tangled were its branches. Each tree was wider than a man and without that lantern which rested above his front wheel, Sir Corbyn might have been blind. Slow breaths bounced off the mask from Sir Seren, each cold with dread. They halted as light struck a figure moments before him and he swerved to avoid them. It was a young man dressed in an umber jacket, quite familiar to that old knight.
Sir Corbyn rode on, even as a glare the colour of wet clay pierced his back. This path ahead narrowed until only a thin lane remained, overrun by roots thicker than an arm. Many miles dashed beneath him in mere minutes, though Pry’s medicine was further than he had covered yet. No matter how far or long, that stare never left. Not for twenty years.
His steed trembled over every time-worn divot and wild-torn bump. Then its lamp flickered as a wheel bounced off this motorway, which fell into a storm-whipped sea under darkness. Though blinded, Sir Corbyn rode on at a reckless pace. His pebble-brown eyes pinned open by cold desperation, until they flinched at a sudden light. The old man swerved moments before he was plunged into a tree, saved by this fickle lantern.
