Sharing ZATELLITE 🛰️ - a tool to visualize and manipulate repetitive loci in living cells using designer zinc fingers tinyurl.com/ZATELLITE led by Nestor Saiz, collab with Marcus Noyes, @teresadavoli.bsky.social, @glennislogsdon.bsky.social, @liamholt.bsky.social & @jefboeke.bsky.social (1/n)
principle of ZATELLITE: synthetic Zinc Fingers are fused to a fluorescent protein and targeted to repetitive endogenous sequences - this ensures damage-free tagging, which is not the case with dCas9

SPLICECRAFT v1.0 IS LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! Open your terminal and type in "pipx install splicecraft" if you want to try it out, then spam "splicecraft update" often as I push updates frequently. A labor of love for the community I adore. Enjoy! 💚

Exciting new paper out! @allanaschooley.bsky.social and Sergey Venev led this project that let to the discovery of two chromosome folding programs: one inherited via mitotic chromosomes and one mitotic inherited through the cytoplasm! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Interphase chromosome conformation is specified by distinct folding programmes inherited through mitotic chromosomes or the cytoplasm - Nature Cell Biology
Schooley et al. find that mitotically bookmarked loci drive a transient chromosome folding state during G1 entry that is subsequently modulated by factors inherited through the cytoplasm.

Universal rules govern plasmid copy number - Nature Communications
Plasmids exhibit a broad range of sizes and copies per cell, and these two parameters appear to be negatively correlated. Here, Ramiro-Martínez et al. analyse the copy number of thousands of diverse b...

Ever wondered where cargo travels through the central channel of the NPC? Siegfried Musser lab @musser-lab.bsky.social measured that in living cells using MINFLUX. Fascinating data! #SMLMS2025

I'm excited to share the preprint of my PhD work from @musser-lab.bsky.social on understanding the structure and dynamics of FUS condensates at the nanoscale. We’ve used different single-molecule microscopy techniques, including MINFLUX, to understand FUS condensate behavior.
