Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Rewatched Agatha All Along and I can't wait for VisionQuest next month. I know it won't be the near-flawless shows Agatha and WandaVision were since Jac Schaefer isn't running it, but I have high hopes and I'm really excited to see how this saga ends. 020

Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Good news is Charlie didn't pull his stitches, but he irritated his eye when I foolishly removed his E-collar to let him go pee outside in peace. So he's fine now, and I'm taking a sick day to recover from my own cold while looking after him. 150

Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Finished Remake last night (almost 100%, missed two summons and one music disc, and didn't fully upgrade every weapon). Excellent game, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Now onto the DLC and then Rebirth. 010

Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 13/08/2026There should never be X-Men solo titles. Not even Storm. The X-Men are a team and a family. They are all at their best when they're together. If Wolverine is going to continue his solo adventures, then he shouldn't also appear in any X-Men title. 120

Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 12/08/2026What made #xmen97 S1 so good was it was*about* something: the ease at which people can become desensitized to violence and hatred, and sit back as genocide happens. That marginalized peoples will never be allowed peace and security. S2 was about...cyborgs and explosions. 131
Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 12/08/2026That was a fine finale but the season as a whole was meh. Lots of fun action, no real depth. Feels just like reading '90s comics! #xmen97 I really hope the next couple seasons get 12+ episodes so there's space for the characters themselves and not just plot plot plot. 260

And it'll be worse bc Justice is Black. 130

Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 30/07/2026The creative decisions at Marvel Studios and Disney continue to baffle me. Wonder Man, despite barely being an adaptation of the comics, was still a good show with a lot of potential ahead of it. 020

Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I'm struggling with X-Men '97 S2. Season 1 set such a high bar and this season isn't clearing it. It's not bad but some of these storytelling/adaptation decisions don't make sense to me. Maybe DeMayo really was the magic that made this show. 110
Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 28/07/2026If Nolan's Odyssey is reigniting interest in Greek mythology, can we please get a good Wonder Woman movie/TV show (ideally based on Historia) and, more importantly, a prestige adaptation of Circe by Madeline Miller? 130
Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 24/07/2026Agreed with all the sentiments in this thread, and also...Christopher Yost? So many great new writers available and we're dipping back into the late naughts for someone? At least get someone talented like Mike Carey, then, and let Yost stick with TV. 100
Reposted by BenSean Kelly @storyslug.bsky.social · 20/07/2026So they made too much content, made it all too similar, made it feel like a job to keep up with, made it lower quality, silenced their more artistic voices in favor of commercial concerns, and then when all that predictably didn't work they blamed it on shifting focus towards more-diverse actors. 1202
Reposted by BenSean Kelly @storyslug.bsky.social · 20/07/2026I think it's pretty simple: Marvel started off very careful to avoid audience fatigue. They hired auteur directors, they made different films feel like different genres, they released new installments at spaced-out intervals, and gradually built to a powerhouse. Then they got greedy. 46412

Ben @thatwasnifty.bsky.social · 16/07/2026lrt I can't believe I'm pining for the days of Axel Alonso, who instituted the policy of cancellation the instant a title falls below 20k sales per month.
