Agree with the sentiment but I think the second picture on your post would be removed from the post. I know the historical context myself but I believe that old racist Japanese caricatures shouldn't be used without explicit historical context.

Exactly. Side note, there were PLENTY of movies that flopped or otherwise lost money when they first came out, but have found a wider audience over time, either through television, home video, or even re-releases.

A movie’s failure at the box office doesn’t always determine quality. It can be good, have lasting value, and still fail financially. We don’t have to pretend Forgotten Island succeeded in order to defend it's merits.

Early copies of Super Mario Sunshine had several bugs, including a fatal memory leak that would not only cause the Chucksters to throw Mario into our dimension, but it would, more importantly, IRREPARABLY BREAK the GameCube. This was patched in subsequent copies.

Writer-types: what's a franchise you were born to write, but you never will? I hope that I actually will get to write The Fairly OddParents. I have ideas for a grand finale to Timmy's story. I know, Channel Chasers but I want to involve what the show became and what it says about our world today.

Anybody who keeps up on me, I would recommend you block @admiralmpj.bsky.social. Back in the 2020 primary, I remember him being one of the more a-hole members of the KHive and, based on these points, seems like he hasn't changed much. Anyways, blocking them.
The initial post of Malcom P. Johnson (admiralmpj.bsky.social) on 04/14/2026 1:13 p.m. Central Time:

"Dear Leftists,

Please defend your "Killer Kamala" and "Genocide Joe" comments in light of the WARS you helped enact in both Iran and Lebanon.

I'll wait."The first part of my response to Malcom P. Johnson's initial post. Posted 04/15/2026 1:39 p.m. Central Time:

"I feel this is veering towards wrecker behavior at the very least.

Look, Biden's actions on Gaza were really bad although but I don't think that is why Kamala lost. Calling Kamala a killer is nonsense but I believe that it's a very minor factor to her loss. 1/2"

Also, Malcom P. Johnson's quote reply to the above post of mine. Posted 04/15/2026 1:41 p.m. Central Time:

"Again, you are focused on Biden's "bad actions" in Gaza.

So...to be clear, you don't think Israel had a right to defend itself after they were attacked on 10/7?

If you're just going to shit Hamas support in my TL, I don't WANT your vote.

And yes, you are responsible for the war we're in now."The second part of my response to Malcom P. Johnson's initial post. Posted 04/15/2026 1:39 p.m. Central Time:

"Using the horrors in Iran and Lebanon not to show how bad MAGA has gotten or to propose ways to rectify what has happened but to instead settle intra-party squabbles, blaming "Leftists" as a collective as THE reason Trump was re-elected, I don't think is helpful. 2/2"

Also, Malcom P. Johnson's response to the above post of mine. Posted 04/15/2026 1:45 p.m. Central Time:

"I don't care if you think it's helpful or not.

Leftists like you fucked us in 2024. In fact they fucked the world.

You decided Hamas propaganda was worth ending American Democracy.

And it got us a war in Iran.

Congrats. You own it now."

learned yesterday that the Sea Monster Ate My Ice Cream episode of ducktales was like 9/11 for hungarian children
On 12 December 1993, following the death of Prime Minister of Hungary József Antall, public television broadcaster Magyar Televízió (MTV) interrupted an afternoon broadcast of the 1987 animated series DuckTales to provide coverage of Antall's death. The event and its abrupt change in tone were described as a flashbulb memory for the generation of children watching at the time. After news of Antall's death reached MTV management at around 16:45 (CET), MTV1's coverage coordination fell to its deputy editor-in-chief, István Stefka [hu], his boss being absent for a country trip, and interior minister Péter Boross arrived at the broadcaster's headquarters to make a statement which was to be televised. Stefka and other employees agreed to immediately break into programming due to the subject matter, in spite of the Walt Disney bemutatja block being scheduled to remain for twenty minutes on air.[1]

At 18:08, as MTV1 was screening the DuckTales episode "A Whale of a Bad Time", the interruption of programming occurred during a scene in which Uncle Scrooge throws a tantrum after learning that a sea monster had devoured his cash. The programme was then replaced with a slide of the MTV1 logo, set to Frédéric Chopin's Funeral March. A few minutes later, Boross appeared on-screen to make the public announcement of Antall's death, with news coverage continuing into the evening.[1][3] The exact number of viewers at the time of the event is unknown, as television viewership figures in Hungary were not recorded until a year later. The abrupt nature of the event caused confusion and anger within the generation of children watching when it occurred, who experienced politics and the concept of death for the first time. This generation subsequently came to be known as the "DuckTales generation".[2][3][5][6][7] The event itself is considered a flashbulb memory, with its significance being compared in Hungarian media to the cultural shock of the assassination of John F. Kennedy and the September 11 attacks, with some media outlets also drawing parallels with the 1939 wartime shutdown of the BBC Television Service, which was immediately preceded by a screening of Mickey's Gala Premier.

I think to reduce Caine down to “he’s just like AM now” is a bit too simple; I view him less as a villain and a monster, and more as a neglected child having a tantrum. His breakdown, while certainly malicious, was driven by anguish and confusion at the world rather than solely anger or hate.

Anyways. Jumping on the Kagi train a bit. I'm normally have a "raging hot ball of fire" on generative AI and its effects. However, this is an exception, for now.
My prompt:
"We all know that I groomed that girl but I can't say it out loud so I'll apologize for any hurt feelings while vaguely blaming the allegations on nefarious outsiders."

Kagi translating the prompt to sex cult leader:
"Everyone knows I’ve been molding her spirit for the higher path, but since the unawakened wouldn't understand, I’ll simply offer a blessing for any "confusion" felt, while pointing out that these poisonous lies are clearly the work of dark forces trying to suppress our divine mission."Prompt (taken from the Paramount Skydance press release about its acquisition agreement of Warner Bros Discovery) set to Linkedin Speak:
"The merger unlocks innovative and compelling storytelling opportunities across the combined company's best-in-class film and television studios, streaming and linear platforms. Together, Paramount and WBD will deliver greater choice for consumers through its leading streaming platforms with an exceptional intellectual property portfolio that has produced popular franchises such as Game of Thrones, Mission Impossible, Harry Potter, Top Gun, the DC Universe and SpongeBob SquarePants."

Prompt translated by Kagi to American English:
"Paramount and WBD are merging because neither can survive alone. We're smashing our studios and streaming apps together to see if we can stop bleeding money. You'll get the same stuff you've already seen—Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and SpongeBob—just all in one place now so we can charge you more for it."Prompt written in English (taken from https://chn.info/history/history-events/how-the-cultural-revolution-destroyed-chinese-traditional-culture):
"While the Cultural Revolution ultimately ended in 1976 with Mao Zedong’s death, its legacy of cultural destruction continues to be felt in China. Thousands of years of cultural heritage were lost or severely damaged during the ten years of radical reform. In the aftermath, the Chinese government under Deng Xiaoping sought to restore and preserve Chinese traditions, but the scars left by the Cultural Revolution still remain in Chinese cultural memory.

Although there have been efforts to recover traditional cultural practices, art forms, and religious beliefs, the Cultural Revolution left a deep psychological and cultural wound, leading to a generation that was deprived of China’s rich heritage. Many younger generations only began to fully understand the significance of this loss after China opened up to more diverse cultural exchanges in the late 20th and early 21st centuries."The prompt from the previous post, translated into Maoist Standard English by Kagi:
"While the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution reached its conclusion in 1976 following the passing of Chairman Mao Zedong, the struggle against the four olds and the legacy of revolutionary upheaval continue to shape the social consciousness of the masses. During the decade of continuous revolution, the old culture of the exploiting classes was swept away by the revolutionary storm. In the subsequent period, the leadership under Deng Xiaoping moved toward the restoration of certain traditions, yet the profound impact of the Cultural Revolution remains etched in the collective memory of the people.

Despite efforts to reclaim traditional practices and art forms, the Cultural Revolution fundamentally transformed the cultural landscape, creating a new generation forged in the heat of class struggle. It was only after the period of opening up and the expansion of cultural exchange in the late 20th and early 21st centuries that the full historical significance of these transformations began to be analyzed by the younger generations."

RIP Guy Moon, the composer for several series, including Fairly OddParents (and the rest of Butch Hartman's work), 2 Stupid Dogs, Cow and Chicken, Ned's Declassified, Big Time Rush, Back in the Barnyard, and many more. He was 63 years old.
Image of Guy Moon from his FacebookScreencap of a post on Guy Moon's Facebook:
We are overcome with grief to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Guy Moon. He was killed on Thursday morning in a traffic collision.
We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.
We are tentatively planning to celebrate his life on his birthday, February 7th, in the Los Angeles area, and again sometime after in his hometown in Wisconsin. We will make details available as we plan.
Together we remain,
