Trump promised no “new stupid wars,” yet he’s starting one with Venezuela without congressional approval. People can’t afford groceries and millions are losing healthcare, but this is where his focus is. This is unconstitutional and not what the American people asked for.

If you’re wondering why your friends in academia are a little on edge right now, it’s because an eighteen-year-old who hasn’t done the reading, doesn’t look at the assignment, and has does no critical thinking skills more complex than “because I think it’s in the Bible” can literally end your career

To be clear: Salvation is not about mouthing the right words or checking the baptism box. Salvation is about participating in God's struggle to set the oppressed free. Salvation is active and ongoing, not static and stagnant.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

Robert Kennedy Jr. is a threat to the health and wellbeing of every American. A United States Secretary of Health and Human Services is tasked with protecting the public health of our country and its people. At yesterday’s hearing, he chose to do the opposite: to dismiss science, mislead the public, sideline experts and sow confusion.

None of us will be spared the pain he is inflicting. It doesn’t matter how rich or powerful you are or what state you live in— the heartbreak of watching a loved one fall ill knows no borders.

The challenges before us—from disease outbreaks to mental health crises—demand moral clarity, scientific expertise, and leadership rooted in fact.

Those values are not present in the Secretary’s office. He must resign.

On what would have been James Baldwin’s 101st birthday, we honor his legacy of challenging our nation to live up to its promises of liberty and justice for all.
A black and white photo of James Baldwin, a Black man wearing a white shirt and a neck tie, with a quote on it that reads "I love America more than any other country in the world and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to perpetually criticize her." The quote is attributed to "James Baldwin, Writer and civil rights activist."

Jesus' harshest words in the gospel were never spoken towards those who were "too loving" or "too compassionate." They were spoken towards those who used their religion as a tool of oppression and self serving power.

Christianity was never meant to be about enforcing moral purity at the expense of our neighbors. It's about seeing every human being, every single one, as a bearer of God's image, deserving of dignity, protection, and care.

PSA: There’s a difference between wearing a mask or respirator & wearing a gaiter or face covering to disguise identity. It’s important to discern & communicate this nuance because if you don’t, you might encourage elected officials to ban masks for everyone, which would be a public health disaster.

For anyone confused, FEMA is overseen by DHS, and their function is 90% planning and preparedness, not just showing up to hand you a check. Natural disasters happen. When leaders don’t plan, fund, or take preparedness seriously, the consequences are far worse. That’s the point.

Since our nation’s founding, the fabric of American society has been woven with deeply racist policies systematically barring marginalized communities from accessing opportunities in jobs, education, and housing. The time is now to root out racism and build a future grounded in equity for all.
A black and white graphic with an image of Frederick Douglass on the right, and a quote from Douglass in white text on the left: “The rich inheritance of justice, liberty, prosperity and independence, bequeathed by your fathers, is shared by you, not by me. This Fourth July is yours, not mine. You may rejoice. I must mourn.” Below, light blue text reads: “From abolitionist Frederick Douglass’s July 3, 1852 speech, ‘What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?’” The ACLU logo is featured in light blue at the bottom.
