#WyrdWednesday Eleanor Cobham was wife to the heir to Henry IV. Accused of consulting necromancers so as to predict the King's death, she was made to do penance & divorced from her husband. A story goes that a black dog which haunts Leeds Castle is a spirit raised by Eleanor during her imprisonment

In medieval England, farmers wouldn't eat blackberries after Michaelmas Day, which marked the beginning of autumn. According to legend, the Devil fell from Heaven on this day and landed on a blackberry bush, which he cursed, spat, stomped, and possibly urinated on. #FairyTaleTuesday

#FolkyFriday The guttering of a candle was once seen as an indication of spirits nearby, and a candle going out suddenly as an omen. When gaslights replaced candles, the hallucinogenic gases given off might have contributed to the increase in the Victorian interest in spiritualism.
