Also, coming at this from similar liberal brain, I just fundamentally believe that MPs and other elite groups don't have a monopoly on good ideas. That said....the state of recent Lib Dem policy proposals, oh boy. It ain't a great reflection of the ideal to put it mildly.

I'd be very interested in analysing that tbh. I can see how less democracy = more success in the short term. But to your point that members tend to be more extreme than voters, that's part of what gives a party identity. And without that *gestures at Starmer*

-Sarwar did actually call for Starmer to go before the election. It's mildly hilarious that the people reaping the dividends are those who didn't make a move before the catastrophic result. -Compare and contrast to Wales, where Lab from from 1st to 3rd, lost their leader, barely beat the TORIES.

There's been a lot of pisstaking of Anas Sarwar. And good, he deserves it. But: -Scottish Labour fell (yes, from an already low spot) relatively little. They came second. On Manchester city council they lost 24 of their 30 defences, and their MCR city council leader is now standing for Mayor.
