Thomas and Sarah (1979) – I'm guessing this is how John Alderton got the Fireman Sam gig. In fact, “Bloody hell fire!” would've made a good catchphrase for Sam.

It probably wasn't my very first, but the earliest that actually sticks in mind is getting this compilation around 2002/2003. Definitely influenced my love of 80's music, which is still going strong today. :)

🧵 (1/2) Pleased to see all of Michael Angelis's appearances on Corrie from 1972 are now online. Previously only one had surfaced on an official DVD release. This bit will probably be of interest to TTTE fans, as there's hints of his future Duncan voice when he's on the phone.

For better or worse, my phone is too outdated to receive these emergency alert things. But here's how these two reacted. (No clue what they were doing alone together in the woods at this time of night. That's their business!)

That's quite the comparison. Thank you. No plans for a Greendale's Finest video series at the moment. 😅

Well... the Christmas story I wrote in a week. This one took close to eight months! Hopefully it's worth the wait after all this. Enjoy. :) docs.google.com/document/d/e...

Yeah, giving that "next few weeks" estimate in May was a terrible idea. But we are getting closer to release, as you can tell from this new teaser image of the cover. Out in the next few days... hopefully? Maybe? 🙏 🤞

Figured I might as well share this too... Taken from the same Telly Addicts episode that the Postman Pat round came from, the other team had to answer some questions about Paddington. If this really was his favourite as mentioned, then excellent choice of clip, Noel! 👍

It's only the intro so far, but some of the cuts in Sayonara Lara are being done with real cel art. How cool is that?

Another Pat clip (and some questions about it) featured on a later 1988 episode of Telly Addicts. Nice to hear the audience reaction to the footage. :)

A trade advert promoting Charlie Chalk in the March/April 1989 issue of TV World. And yes, it was distributed to international audiences by HiT. I'd like to imagine this means Jim Henson himself actually watched an episode at some point!

The book illustrations of Pat's van mostly reflect Series 1, starting out with a simple crown logo and later stories switching to the official Royal Mail insignia. Pat's Tractor Express, however, is an anomaly in that it depicts a much fancier looking crown with no text beneath it.

Celia Berridge's book illustrations are largely faithful to the TV series, but one notable difference is Thompson Ground is shown on top of a steep hill. Would have been fun to see this depicted with the Woodland model sets (complete with much gear crunching as Pat's van struggles to get up there!)

A Christmas advert is not exactly the most seasonal thing to link to on another incredibly hot day in July... but who cares? Because hearing new audio of Ken Barrie is always a delight. :) www.youtube.com/watch?v=da6T...

Not that I particularly care about football, but this seemed an appropriate one to repost since it's World Cup season. Here, the casts of Postman Pat and Charlie Chalk go head to head in a match. Which fictional characters would you like to see play a sport (of any kind) against each other?

Something I've never really noticed before. The counter window in the Post Office appears very briefly in the first episode, but is then completely missing for the rest of Series 1. It finally reappears in the two 1991 special episodes. Perhaps the animators found it difficult to film around?

Another John Cunliffe interview here, where he talks quite a bit about Rosie & Jim. It also mentions the first series of Postman Pat "took nearly two years" to animate, so presumably Woodland would have started production around late 1979 or early 1980. (Telegraph and Argus, 2nd March 1996)

I only have the front cover to go on, but I assume this issue would contain the "Miami Twice" or "One Foot in the Algarve" of Postman Pat stories.

John Cunliffe lost media? There is mention here of him working on a TV project to be produced by Carlton Television for 1996. As far as I know, this never came to fruition. He also reveals his reasons for leaving Rosie & Jim after the first two series. (Telegraph and Argus, 25th November 1994)

🧵 (1/2) While I've been writing about Pat's early adventures recently, this is how the comics in the 90's depicted him on his first day as postman. The full story can be found in the reply to this post.

Oh look! I remembered Bluesky exists... For anyone interested, I'm finally getting close to completing a second story in this prequel series. Hopefully I'll have it ready to publish in the next few weeks. Miss Hubbard features far more in this one and has proven surprisingly good fun to write for.
