The middle one (which I've dubbed Scrooge McHatt in my head) is new, I think. You'd expect someone wearing a hat and coat apparently made of gold to look a little happier. :P

I'd say unleash the Ruth story first since so little has been written about her.

Those two unused Duck storylines you mention sound interesting. Would be cool to see them completed at some point, even if they perhaps need to be set outside of the Series 2 context to work better. :)

Thomas and Sarah (1979) – I'm guessing this is how John Alderton got the Fireman Sam gig. In fact, “Bloody hell fire!” would've made a good catchphrase for Sam.

It probably wasn't my very first, but the earliest that actually sticks in mind is getting this compilation around 2002/2003. Definitely influenced my love of 80's music, which is still going strong today. :)

🧵 (1/2) Pleased to see all of Michael Angelis's appearances on Corrie from 1972 are now online. Previously only one had surfaced on an official DVD release. This bit will probably be of interest to TTTE fans, as there's hints of his future Duncan voice when he's on the phone.

(2/2) For anyone wanting to check the rest out, he shows up in numerous scenes as Franny Slater in every episode between 16th October '72 and 1st Nov '72. All can be found in this playlist: www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

For better or worse, my phone is too outdated to receive these emergency alert things. But here's how these two reacted. (No clue what they were doing alone together in the woods at this time of night. That's their business!)

Thanks so much. Ted's up there with my favourites as well, so I'm glad you think the story served him well. Ideas for what's next are a bit sketchy at the moment, but I hope to release at least one more of these before the end of the year. :)

That's quite the comparison. Thank you. No plans for a Greendale's Finest video series at the moment. 😅

(9/9) “I had to come round by Greendale Crag.” This was going to be High Thwaites - a place the Rev Timms is said to operate a small sister chapel in Cunliffe's notes. Since it's unclear where exactly this is, I decided using a location introduced in the SDS era was a safer bet.

(8/9) “He made his way into the village, where he broke the news to those waiting.” I was going to feature the elusive Herbert Pottage (seen circled here) amongst the crowd of villagers in this scene, but ended up giving his lines to George instead. Hope to develop him more in a future story.

(7/9) Peter Fogg being depicted as a schoolboy. Although he doesn't seem *that* much younger than Pat in the original series, John Cunliffe's notes only have him down as being 21. Therefore, I figure he'd be aged around 10 or 11 in the early 70's.

(6/9) Boyd's Chemists is, of course, a nod towards the wonderful voice of Carole Boyd. The council inspector was named after the animator and director Derek Mogford who worked on so many Woodland productions.

(5/9) “A brief but alarming WHOOMP that upset a nearby field of goats.” So this was originally going to be a field of sheep, but sheep get several mentions elsewhere in the story. And goats just sounded funnier!

(4/9) “He was so hairy. It was hard to tell where the large, bushy moustache ended and the hair on his head began.” Pretty much the final lines written into the story. Largely inspired by the way Ted ended up looking in the image edits.

(3/9) “Someone finally moved into that old empty barn?” Yes. Yes, this was a reference to that one scene in Dad's Army. XD

(2/9) Ted's workshop being on "Potter's Lane." No known canon names for pretty much any of the roads in Greendale, so this was my own invention. I'd read John Cunliffe was a fan of authors Beatrix Potter and Alfred Wainright. Potter seemed less of a mouthful for a place name, so I chose that.

For anyone curious about continuity... I am writing these somewhat out of order. A Postie's First Christmas is set last in this prequel series since it involves Pat reuniting with Sara and getting his new van at the end. Any other stories, like this one, are set before it.

Yeah, giving that "next few weeks" estimate in May was a terrible idea. But we are getting closer to release, as you can tell from this new teaser image of the cover. Out in the next few days... hopefully? Maybe? 🙏 🤞

Figured I might as well share this too... Taken from the same Telly Addicts episode that the Postman Pat round came from, the other team had to answer some questions about Paddington. If this really was his favourite as mentioned, then excellent choice of clip, Noel! 👍

A trade advert promoting Charlie Chalk in the March/April 1989 issue of TV World. And yes, it was distributed to international audiences by HiT. I'd like to imagine this means Jim Henson himself actually watched an episode at some point!

The book illustrations of Pat's van mostly reflect Series 1, starting out with a simple crown logo and later stories switching to the official Royal Mail insignia. Pat's Tractor Express, however, is an anomaly in that it depicts a much fancier looking crown with no text beneath it.

Also... this might be a weird perspective thing I'm not getting, but how is that distant cockerel almost as big as those much-nearer-to-us cows?

Celia Berridge's book illustrations are largely faithful to the TV series, but one notable difference is Thompson Ground is shown on top of a steep hill. Would have been fun to see this depicted with the Woodland model sets (complete with much gear crunching as Pat's van struggles to get up there!)
