A little over a decade ago, people in the communication discipline used to question our push to pay more attention to human-machine communication. GenAI changed a lot of those attitudes, and I'm thinking agentic AI will put the issue to rest. youtu.be/fHEIw5CcN5U?...

As a heads-up: every firm's customer service agents are about to be overwhelmed with Dots & Muses negotiating for better deals using voice/chat channels made for humans. Stories of people delegating this sort of work to their agents & saving money are popping up and are going to only go more viral.

Reading a good Dallas Express piece about shrinking newsrooms and AI--and how AI seems like a fix but isn't. Gasped at the numbers I already knew w/r/t the collapse of the industry. In 2026-to-2026 dollars, decline in ad revenue is from *92B* in 2005 to 9B today. dallasexpress.com/national/as-...
That support eroded as advertising and audiences moved online. Pew
Research Center's historical figures put U.S. newspaper advertising
revenue at approximately $49.4 billion in 2005, compared with an
estimated $9.8 billion in 2022. Those are nominal dollars; the decline was
already enormous without adjusting for inflation.

This is the thing. They blame the “AI” but it was humans who set this up and properly failed to monitor.
