From this 🇨🇦's personal perspective: when Sandy Hook changed *nothing*, most faith in the ability to pass meaningful gun laws was lost. Worrying about friends in the USA is just a constant hum since. I'm so sorry your country is so broken and your politicians so feckless as to allow this to continue

Y acaban saliendo y...

((I commissioned some art for this fic from the fantastic mishkayustina, and she did such an amazing job of capturing my vision for this scene!))

Art of a red-eyed Wei Wuxian staring straight out at the viewer as he kneels on the floor holding an unconscious Lan Wangji in his arms. There's blood running down Wei Wuxian's face and dripping from his hands, as well as on Lan Wangji's cheek and drenching his robes. They're surrounded by the smoke of resentment, and behind them ghostly hands reach up from the ground and a ghostly figure looms.

"Just think about it," WWX continues, on a roll now. "I already know you and trust you. You know what you're doing, and A'Sang would totally vouch for you! There's no need to make this all complicated by taking me to your club or involving other people. I bet you have everything we need right here!"

Wei Ying’s face leaning close to his, so beautiful even dappled with blood. His name murmured in that beloved voice. Warm arms around him. A hand on his cheek. The soft press of lips to his forehead. That’s when he knows he must be dreaming. And then all is darkness.

I will remind folks those images of Nazi book burnings aren't burning just any books. They're burning the library of Magnus Hirschfeld; a gay, Jewish doctor who created an institute dedicated to LGBTQ sex education and healthcare. And a man who pioneered gender affirming care surgeries.

Oh. WWX’s whole body flushes hot. He wouldn’t have guessed two minutes ago that such simple words could be that sexy, but holy shit. “Right. Okay. Well, then…I don’t owe you dinner.” “Mn.” LWJ nods, looking pleased with himself. “I will see you at the center.” And he slips out the door.

finally rewatching ep 2 with subtitles and I just gotta shoutout how good the 0713 guys are at communicating with each other. You can tell how stressed everyone is learning the dance and Cantonese lyrics, but they talk out misunderstandings calmly and respectfully. It's so refreshing 💖 #cmbf5

000

I hope that everyone doesn't just stick with their designated groups all season. So much of the fun of CMBF is in the mixing and mingling everyone does between team shuffles/roommates/etc. I know the performances will still be jaw-dropping, I'm just worried everything else will be boring lol (7/7)

000

The group introductions/interviews just don't do much to really introduce you to everyone, unfortunately. "PROME" is also disadvantaged by this along with the added complication of being a full rock band where only one guy really sings. (6/?)

(Video continued) After the first part of the S5 premiere, I know that these kids like to eat and sleep and that Nathan Lee was one of their mentors. Meanwhile, the first 40 mins of the S4 premiere had those junior members gossiping and tripping and fanboying all over the place. (5/?)

100

Just look at the contrast between this new boyband in the 1st ep of season 5 and the guys in their 20s that participated in season 4 (video is cut in half to upload) (4/?)

100

But after all three parts of s5ep1, I still know nothing about this pre-formed boyband of 18-20 year olds. They're completely blank to me. I'm sure I'll learn more about them individually eventually, but right now they're just a faceless clump of pop stars I've never heard of (3/?)

100

The thing about s4 is that the younger guys (in their 20s) immediately established their personalities and came from different backgrounds so mostly everyone was meeting for the first time. (2/?)

100

I hope Call Me By Fire (披荆斩棘) S5 will be good. I loved S4 sooooo much last year, that it's already going to be hard to compare. I'm trying to keep in mind that I was wary about the "kids" joining the lineup at the start of S4 and ended up adoring their addition to the show. (1/?)

100

They are subtitled on the MGTV app/website usually a day after airing (including the team intro and 1-3) The youtube channel will probably get better at updating the subs earlier as the season goes on, it's always a little shaky on that front at the beginning

000

Denny Carter @dennycarter.bsky.social · 10/07/2025

Yeah, I'm not thrilled by the format this season, but I'm still excited to see how it goes. Bo Yuan participated in s3, and Gao Qingchen participated last year in s4 when there were half a dozen guys under the age of 30 mixed in. The way this new boyband is just wedged in as 1 unit is frustrating

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... Some unfortunate mistakes in this article and also a (predicable) lack of context. 1) obviously not all danmei is like 50 Shades (wtf, reporters). 2) the crackdown has stayed under the radar because it targeted writers with tiny audiences writing extreme content.

China is cracking down on young women who write gay erotica

At least 30 writers have been arrested across the country since February, a lawyer tells the BBC.

I had to go back to this old livestream transcript where he talked about the horses at Hengdian 😂 www.tumblr.com/heymeowmao/6...

LYN: So, I’ve fed them no small amount of carrots. I’m sure horses have an impression- honestly these horses shoot more dramas than people do. Don’t look down on them. These horses are working every day. I’m sure the dramas they have been in are a lot more than some actors. That’s the first thing. The second thing is that these horses know a lot more actors and celebrities than you do. You could go your whole life without ever knowing/seeing more than a couple of artists, but these horses see them everyday. They’re veterans.
LYN: These horses are in Hengdian all the time, it’s like they’ve been trained for the camera. When the director says, “Get ready!” they know- they stand at attention. They have better posture than I do! They know to stand at attention when the camera is rolling, and then “3, 2, 1.” You don’t even have to say anything, the horse just goes! It’s a natural instinct for them, now. They act better than some rookie actors do.

And that’s that. Wei Ying moves in with them before the week is out. He actually doesn’t have much to bring, given that all his art supplies and most of his substantial comic book collection have all already been residing at the Lan house for some time, along with at least half of his wardrobe.

I was that kid who would pull out a volume of one of the encyclopedias at home, and chase words, gods, historical figures, science fact, from one volume to another for hours at a time. If someone finds the internet flat and "all magic lost", it says a lot more about them than the internet.

A character make a (seemingly) throwaway comment about friends having an "oops" baby someday, then three fics later in that series they did. It was fun when some people reread the older fic later and were like "wait you planned this 2 yrs ago??" That's the first one that came to mind at least lol
