One big reason that services like @waymo.bsky.social are NOT the climate solution they claim to be is that the one part of the transportation network that they might actually be useful, low-density rural areas, are the places they're least interested in operating.

Or you could just ride a bus to BART (or to any other transit agency) and get up to $2.85 deducted from the fare immediately, not a future credit like this is. I’ve been using the free transfers from BART to AC Transit a lot for Transit Month. Those discounts add up!

The ppl caving to this anti-trans hysteria and hate-mongering are sick in the head and have no business being allowed anywhere near a position of power where they can infect our society with even more of their sickness.

Doug Ford knew that banning speed cameras in Ontario would cost lives. He did it anyway. He also knows that banning and removing protected bike-lanes in Ontario will cost lives. He did it anyway. Every resulting life stupidly cut short is on him.

Just saw a shady ad from the California Retailer's Association pleading for consumers to oppose AB2564 on the grounds it'll "stop retailers from offering you coupons and discounts" What does it actually do? It bans surveillance pricing. You can and should google every bill you get an ad about

Sometimes I wonder what the distribution of motivation is for the criminal acts of theft/self-enrichment of this administration: how much is just boring old greed and how much is knowing they will need to pay private armies to protect them and their families for generations given how hated they are.

I was at a community org meeting last night where a city employee gave a great presentation but fellow civil servants and planners/consultants, I beg of you, do not call things "AI" unless you know for a fact they are. Speed and Red Light camera enforcement predates the current AI craze by decades.

It's pretty telling when someone can spend their life calling for the deaths and suffering of the innocent and downtrodden but those they targeted are chastised and punished for celebrating the person's timely demise.

With the midterms this fall, I'm reminding everybody that when you see (most) political ads, resist the urge to Skip the ad at least the first time you see it. They're required to have a funding disclosure and you can learn a LOT by viewing the ad's message in the context of who's paying for it.
A screenshot from the end of the of a shady political ad claiming to be protecting California Consumers by "fighting" personal injury lawyer corruption but the ad funding disclosure shows it's paid for by Uber

#Summer fits are finally complete now that I finally have a summer hat to go with my #linen solids and florals (Remember kiddos, linen is made from Flax. Flax can take as little as 1/8 of the water needed to grow the same weight in cotton, uses minimal pesticides, and has low pollution runoff risk)
A man stands outside a building in the shade wearing a white linen button-down shirt with an open collar, a lanyard covered in pins, sunglasses, and an off-white straw fedora with a black fabric band.

The shirt drapes comfortably but the collar and top 10cm of the placket are moderately starched to help them stand up and maintain their shape. The pins on the lanyard are mostly railroad-related but there is also a Ukranian Trident, a Palestinian flag, a Progress Pride pin, and some character pins from the animation project "Lackadaisy"

I declare (verbal) war on drivers who commit the most glaring violations of pedestrian safety. If you park in a crosswalk, on a sidewalk, in a bike lane, or any senseless act of selfishness and endangerment, I am encouraging everyone to yell whatever unactionable threats they can think up at you.

Calling protected bike-lanes “vanity projects” should be automatic evidence that a political candidate has no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to public safety, urban mobility and congestion, geometry and urban space, fiscal responsibility, or the successful positioning of cities.
