It's not like we'd allow private companies to develop nuclear weapons all on their own. The potential for cyber and bio-weapons is closer to that sort of analogy than it is to traditional tech. 000

taylorofthecave.bsky.social @taylorofthecave.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Yeah, you're right in regards to the deductible and coinsurance especially if Medigap isn't in the mix, I was speaking too broadly there. These people who'd be losing their coverage aren't paying anything in though if they've made zero claims - so no income loss for CMS from them. 000
taylorofthecave.bsky.social @taylorofthecave.bsky.social · 22/09/2026If the people getting kicked off were never going to make claims then they wouldn't be bothered by this. They should be bothered by this because past claim history isn't the only indicator of future need. Insurance is there for when you need it & you need it there before you have a covered event. 100
taylorofthecave.bsky.social @taylorofthecave.bsky.social · 22/09/2026It does reduce outlay - because if you are covered you could potentially make claims in the future, and this is all about future costs and claims. 200
taylorofthecave.bsky.social @taylorofthecave.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Medicare and Medicaid aren't like private or traditional insurance programs though. taylorofthecave.bsky.social @taylorofthecave.bsky.social · 22/09/2026CMS is not structured like private insurance. Payors in that system are not necessarily beneficiaries. They can boot people off and the program doesn't risk losing income - it just reduces outlays for CMS and screws patients/legitimate beneficiaries. 150
taylorofthecave.bsky.social @taylorofthecave.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Having filed a past claim is irrelevant to whether you qualify as a beneficiary for these programs! If you qualify you shouldn't be kicked off of a program you haven't used but might need and need to have coverage under before you can use it. Wildly bad faith and insane to announce at a podium. 0100
taylorofthecave.bsky.social @taylorofthecave.bsky.social · 22/09/2026That's not how Medicare and Medicaid work. Everyone pays in a given amount based on income, beneficiaries to those programs don't pay any more than anyone else.
