The legal environment our corrupt Supreme Court has created for this man is that he can do no wrong. But the political truth is that he can do no right. He has made himself illegitimate. That he remains in office despite this isn't evidence to the contrary, it's evidence of systemic political rot

I have to boost this. (Not that I can ‘boost’ anything, but still) It really is perfect. Establishes story, characters, and—most importantly—tone, and most of the dialogue is about a guy baby-proofing his house. And the title drop is 💋👌

Same logic as gun fetishists. “I WISH a motherfucker would break in my house!” Craving violence so he can be violent harder. Just give him a reason. Make his day.

It's good that we invented things like "government" and "the economy" but we can't meaningfully participate in them if the people in charge are constantly rubbing in our faces that these things are fake, and in fact you are a naive doofus if you think otherwise. That's a society on life support

I’m sick and goddam tired of this shit. Any time there’s a captive audience, MUST SELL ADS! This is what they’ve always wanted, and we let them build the systems that actually do it. It’s invasive and dehumanizing, and I think it contributes to our collective insanity gizmodo.com/mcdonalds-is...

If we let the current crop of "AI" people stay in charge, we are not gonna make it; not because of "superintelligent AI," but because of what the MIT study terms "cognitive surrender": offloading and deterioration of critical skills. And it increasingly feels like that's exactly what they want.

when wikipedia launched, the idea that an encyclopedia could be reliably maintained by the public was a joke. now, it's a marvel, a remarkable resource, virtually the only website that remotely delivers on its potential and practically the last pleasant browsing experience on the internet.

“Abolish ICE” was immediately met with eye rolling condescension and after events proved that policy correct, and support *among Democrats* for it exploded to like 80%, it didn’t move party leaders at all. How is this tenable

And here’s the thing: when we’re told multiple times a day, explicitly and implicitly, that we’re *not* human beings, we stop acting like human beings. It might not be a moral or ethical choice, but it’s rational.

taylor @taylordaemon.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
We’re constantly asked to prove that we’re human, or to enable two-factor authentication to protect ourselves from systems that we had no choice but to adopt. Because we, as human beings, don’t matter. Our experiences don’t matter.

I read the story about the mom who realized Instagram knew things about her family that she’d never posted, and the guy who discovered that McDonald’s knows every purchase he ever made, and where. Companies just hoovering up as much data as possible, because that’s all we are.

Even the lack of secure work is often a grift, hiring and firing people en masse to manipulate the stock market. We’re not human beings who want to earn a living, we’re just another mechanism to inflate the bottom line.

Politicians always lied, but we’ve got a President who lives in a falsifiable alternate reality. We’re expected to believe that gas prices are low, we’ve already won the war, and he was at Ground Zero on 9/11. Presidency as grift, and we’re all marks. Abuser behavior. Inherently dehumanizing.

Anytime anything has our attention for even a second, we’re a captive audience to advertisers. We’re data. Statistics. Marks. Intuitively, it’s dehumanizing.

Exhibit A is Advertising. Commercials and billboards are annoying, but now, anything with a screen serves ads. Things that already have ads serve ads. Gas pump has a touchscreen for payment? It shows ads. Pause a YouTube video? More ads. Start your BMW? Watch a movie trailer.

We tend to think of capitalism as the final boss that needs defeating, and in many ways it is, but these people who currently control ALL of the capital and the levers of power are not just capitalists -- they're religious zealots who belong to a death cult, and they're fine taking us with them.

Because social media is a narcissistic enterprise, I can sense people disengaging on this topic. "I don't fall for the scams, thus it doesn't matter" is the reaction. It does matter. You know why it's hard to get people to care about Trump's corruption? They see Democrats as scammers, too.

I would like to see more companies admit this - being a public company no longer means running a successful, thriving business. It strictly means delivering growth to investors, every single quarter, who do not care at all about the product the company sells or the people who produce it.
