New factoid shared at a meeting here at Space Telescope: #JWST's guiding is so stable that it's like flying a laser pointer on a drone in Washington DC, and pointing it perfectly at a dime (like a UK 5p coin) in San Francisco ~4000 km away.

With this online interactive from NASA, users can type in a name and see it spelled out in Earth features found in Landsat images. We wanted to play along. 😁 Can you see STScI? Use the tool to spell your favorite space object and share it with us: go.nasa.gov/3QIxKF7
A series of five aerial images. The first shows a lush, green river landscape. The second displays swirling golden patterns resembling abstract art. The third features winding, tree-lined river bends. The fourth captures a desert landscape with the layout of Burning Man. The fifth shows a sprawling area with a dark, narrow lake. Each image appears to show a letter that together spells STScI

Looking at the AAS jobregister lately, it seemed to me that there are less positions available in all categories than in previous years. Wanting to quantify, I used the wayback machine to check on the number of postings in the January-March window and it is quite depressing.
