🧵The @sfchronicle.com has a lengthy dive with strong reporting on medical treatment of detainees by ICE. Or, I should say, lack of treatment. To add insult to injury, ICE is stiffing providers and billing detainees for their treatment on release, routing for collections if they don't pay.

Rodrigo, green card holder, was improperly detained by ICE and received no medication for his throat tumor, which is impinging on his vocal cords and caused a brain aneurysm.

A fascinating (and horrifying) thing about measles is that it can wipe out your immune memory and make you susceptible to secondary infections. So it’s possible they didn’t die *of measles* but they got measles and then died of a different infection.

Wow this is amazing. Pancreatic cancer is so devastating because it’s rarely detected before it’s metastatic, so it’s usually just ~6 months survival after diagnosis. This drug - which is apparently first in its class - puts survival over a year. This is indeed huge.
