I hate that LLMs appropriated the EM dash. I've been using that delightful little punctuation mark for years and now I have to worry "will people think an AI generated this" if I use them in my writing.

I think the original GBA has much better ergo than the SP. The SP's clamshell is nice for putting it in your pocket while traveling, but I'd rather put my Gameboy in a case, so I'd take the ergo over the screen protection.

note that even in modern gear some moves have 0f recovery by design. Sol's j.H in strive still has 0f recovery. so if the frame data was written in GGML, it would gain an extra active frame at the end.

if it's a move with instant startup, then it loses an active frame because it's skipping the first frame. if it is a move that is *intended* to have 0 recovery, then it gains an extra active frame because it holds on the last frame (an active) for an extra cycle

using the terms "startup" and "recovery" in my description is slightly inaccurate, but I picked it to make it easier to understand at a glance. Basically, imagine you skip the first frame of every animation, and duplicate the last frame as well. Even if they're not startup or active.

I should explain why I used Sol's prejump in the attached video. Sol's prejump is programmed using 2 sprites, each with a duration of 3 frames. Due to the timing drift, the first sprite gets its duration cut by 1, and the last sprite extended by 1.

This means that if the code instructions for the move say "hold the first startup sprite for 2f and the last recovery sprite for 3f" then the game actually holds the first startup sprite for 1f and the last recovery sprite for 4f.

What's happening is that the game's instruction files tell the game how long to hold each sprite (and hitbox) in frames. The issue is that it decrements the duration counter before the move starts display, and checks the "is animation over" check after the move draws.
