Looks like the fake story from 7 months ago about Norway's prime minister using a red pen to mark up and grade a "letter" (it was a text message) from the US president is making the rounds again. Updating the misinformation list accordingly.

FYI several were added to the misinformation risk list yesterday for posting obviously false and debunked information about @abdulelsayed.bsky.social. He did not run a "dog slaughterhouse".

1. People should use Bluesky how they want and stop worrying if, by consequence, others decide they want to avoid them. 2. It's dumb to expect us to credulously believe that any account is inescapable here the land of the Nuclear Block. 3. It's trivial to produce the receipts for this list.

We have decided to label this post as "Suspected AI Imagery". Here's how we came to this conclusion, as an example of our process. It takes time and effort, and we try to make our due diligence as much as possible. First, there is no known source for this video. No news coverage. 1/6

Just a note that if you use the TERF label, you should also use the intolerance label, as that catches far more folks for transphobia.

Hey everyone! 👋 I want to share an update on @aimod.social:
Thank you to everyone who put your trust in the @aimod.social labeler. Your support means the world to me and the whole team. The project is officially restarting, but I am stepping down from my role.

While I had an amazing team alongside me and the work we did felt fulfilling and meaningful, being the primary public face took a toll. Between the massive time commitment of moderation and the stress of navigating disputes over mistaken labels, I realized it is time for me to step back and focus on other projects.

As a team, we collectively decided to pause the labeler recently. We needed that time to overhaul our methods and revise terminology to ensure the project is done right, better serves the community, and protects the people who give so much of themselves to keep @aimod.social operational.

The labeler is in great hands with the same amazing team. I can’t express enough just how incredible they are and how dedicated they’ve been to protecting and informing the art community. Please keep an eye out for an official update from the @aimod.social account! (side note: they will likely need more volunteers soon, too!)

I am passing the baton and stepping away from project duties, but I'll always be rooting for them.

Thank you all for the support. ❤️

—Davis

We would like to raise two proposals to our users. The first, is the depreciation of the "Disinformation Network Label". This label is confusing in combination with fringe media and we are proposing depreciation:

I did not share the original story because my gut was that the sourcing was dubious. Someone who knows more about the sole source confirms that skepticism. Don't fall for clickbait, read the piece linked below. (If the story is confirmed by other outlets, that's another thing. But ... it's not)

I don't track bots or trolls, but questions help avoid spreading misinfo: - Who posted it? Are they a legit source? - Does it include links to a reliable source? - Is it fact-based (names, real places, dates/times) or emotional? - Do text/images show signs of AI use? This is all common advise now.

You're free to create any list you want, of course. My policy is to ignore moderation lists and block feed lists (which can be used for targeting), if I'm added to them. Then as far as I'm concerned they don't exist and I just go on with life.

I'm using my own recipe for a JD Vance #moderation #list. Most of the ones I see are generated from his followers. This catches many journalists or others who just want to monitor his posts without giving engagement to him. This one is based on reposts/quotes/likes/replies but not followers.

Every once in a while someone will drop in who’s convinced that only a Bad Person would ever dare to list them. I do my best to reply honestly and accurately, but often it becomes necessary to issue a bespoke block. Sealioning and repeated rudeness isn’t useful or tolerable.

Not everyone on this list is a follow-farmer (hence the 'etc'). Some are spamming follows without a specific interest in endless growth. For others, it's because there are repeated posts of obvious misinformation. All are high risk to spread untruths.

We've introduced a new label and associated blocklist: Intolerance. We have also depreciated the Dehumanizing Rhetoric and Discriminatory Language labels in favor of this one, which will capture a broader swath of behavior that users want out of their timelines.
Moderation settings interface for "Intolerance" label. The description explains the label is applied to posts that espouse discriminatory views, stereotypes, identity-based attacks, dehumanizing rhetoric, or hate speech targeting race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, or gender. The interface provides options to set the label to "Off", "Warn", or "Hide".
