Just as with Stonewall, the appeasement of anti-trans fascism by @amnestyuk.bsky.social will tarnish their reputation for a long, long time. We get that you’ve done a lot of good in the past. We get that you were put in a difficult position by JKR’s lawfare. It’s no excuse. Shame on you.

When the story of why humanity didn't stop climate change is written, it will feature front pages like this. Even as the skies blacken with climate change-induced wildfires, right wing media continue their relentless crusade against measures to tackle it.

Adding the full thread from Gina.
I brought the "upskirting law" into effect in 2019.

Let's talk about that image JK Rowling shared.

She did this to humiliate artist Freda Wallace. That is a specific motivation we included in the Voyeurism Act. We fought for, and included it *specifically* because men often upskirt women (it is overwhelmingly men) to "punish" them for their bodies, clothing and for being a woman, by humiliating them.

That's called misogyny and it's what we're witnessing Joanne do here: transmisogyny.

It goes like this:

1. Target someone you dehumanise

2. Assert power with demand (Joanne wanted to debate Freda, for me a man wanted a "yes" to his advances)

3. If they refuse, punish them by capturing a "humiliating" image of their body

4. Share it to exert power and humiliate

Exact same logic.Now, Joanne didn't capture this image and she didn't capture it 'beneath' Freda's clothing, which adds questions about prosecution under the Voyeurism Act (though it doesn't 100% discount it).

Sharing the image is a separate issue here too

Even if it didn't fit neatly under The Voyeurism Act, that doesn't make it any less wrong.

The law is *never* a guide for morality and laws do not reflect the complex ways people harass and/or assault people.

Joanne is spending millions and committing her life to pushing trans people out of public life.

She is a harassing, harmful bully contorting the logic of advocacy to hurt marginalised people and retain some sort of twisted relevance.

I support trans people to live free from harassment, harm and demonisation.

I always will.

Because I believe in human rights.

I do not, and will never, support a billionaire using wealth and power to harass and harm people of any gender.

As the narrative shifts to “Keir Starmer, a decent man undone by circumstances”: the challenges are real, but it was Starmer’s instincts that undid him. He thought the way to see off the far-right was to appease them, and he squandered the chance to use a landslide majority to make real progress.

Burnham could just be more of the same. All the talk of “change” may be empty words. He might be just as indulgent of the far-right as Starmer: just as transphobic, racist and craven. And, anyway, I’ll still vote Green. But things do feel just a tiny bit brighter today, and I’m going to enjoy that.

Surprising flash of honesty from Keir Starmer: “Policy-making that doesn’t listen very carefully to the voices of those of seeks to serve… that is not how this government carries out its business.” His policies serve TERFs and the far-right, and he has been listening very, very carefully.

Ok, I filled a BBC complaint about it and so should you You can find my complaint in the alt text, but I urge you to write your own if able. www.bbc.co.uk/contact/comp...
I wish to make a formal complaint about a social-media post by BBC presenter Martina Navratilova on X, dated 21 April 2026: https://x.com/Martina/status/2046370262493364516

In that post, Ms Navratilova described Dr Beth Upton as a “Predator” and “A sexual predator”.

This is an extremely serious accusation to make about a named individual. No finding of any wrongdoing was made against Dr Upton. The post therefore goes far beyond comment or debate and instead publicly smears her with abusive and degrading language.

The post also appears plainly discriminatory. Ms Navratilova misgenders Dr Upton and targets her on the basis of the protected characteristic of gender reassignment. The substance and tone of the post make clear that Dr Upton was singled out not because of any proven wrongdoing, but because she is a transgender woman.

A BBC presenter should not use a public platform to vilify an individual in this way, particularly by portraying her as sexually dangerous without any proper basis. That is harmful to Dr Upton, damaging to public discourse, and incompatible with the standards the BBC should expect from its presenters.

More so when done solely because of a characteristic protected under Equality Act 2010 and part of a long pattern of miss Navratilova.

Please investigate this as a formal complaint and confirm:

 - whether this post breaches BBC standards or policies;
 - what action will be taken;
 - whether Ms Navratilova will be required to remove the post and apologise
 - what steps the BBC will take to prevent similar conduct in future.
