Finally watched Heated Rivalry! Also watched Vera (I'd only seen the first season or two before I think). I watched Shetland twice through & am tempted to watch again oh no. Watched Murder in Provence. And The Long Call. Started Happy Valley but think it may be too dark for me right now.

Other people might feel accomplished or impressed with themselves for writing a novella or novel-length work, I'm impressed because I wrote something that's less than 2,000 words. (Also it seems appropriate that a Shetland fic would be sparse.) (Relieved I think it's okay in the light of day.)

Grumpy that I used a word a ton in some fic that by one definition is an ableist slur—that's not the definition I knew! Feeling foolish and I used it so much it would be difficult to weed it out of the fic. (I put a big old content warning/explanation on the fic for now.) (Got it from canon, obvs.)

I think I just watched seven seasons of Shetland in three days? Maybe four? Uh . . . it's all a bit of a blur to be honest. I assume other things have been going on in the world. Vexed by the lack of Duncan in season 7 but I have to assume the actor had other commitments or something.

Bleargh. Picked up where I left off with a WIP and didn't get very far. Writing is hard, especially when you get all self-conscious about it. (And I'm rereading one of my completed stories and finding all sorts of things I'd fix now. I shouldn't do this to myself, I'll be tweaking things forever.)

One thing about Tim Curry: though Rocky Horror made him a queer sex icon, he never publicly defined his sexuality. Not in interviews, not in his memoir. This was the most I got out of him. Which, fine?

You write about playing Frank-N-Furter, “I learned not to limit myself—artistically, professionally, sexually, or mentally.” How did that character transform your sense of yourself? Did it have to do with masculinity and femininity, exploring both sides of yourself?

I did decide not to limit myself to anything, and I believed that I could do anything. It gave me a lot of oomph—a lot of strength—to back up my own decisions about my life. And I certainly didn’t limit myself sexually, particularly. I thought that was important at the time. I swam “the warm waters of sins of the flesh,” to quote the play and the movie.

Having a bad day full of sadness & angst which was extra frustrating because of writer's block too. Hadn't realized how often I had been escaping into writing fic (well, I had some clue but not this specifically). Additional problem was when I tried to read my stuff, I found it all horrific.
