Good point, I did finally put one together a little while ago so that's good. Currently annoyed that the scammers are getting better at sounding like legit nice comments. I was nodding along thinking "oh, they got what I was doing" and then oh noooo. (sigh.)

If anyone is ever inspired to make fanart based on any of my fic, I probably won't believe it until I actually see it based on how often I get the scammer comments saying they're inspired to make fanart if only I would contact them on Discord (or Insta) . . . (ugh, got another one of those.)

Bleargh. Convinced once again that I can't write fiction despite there being a whole lot of fiction I've written. Just keenly aware of the kinds of things I don't write or don't write well and wishing I could I guess. (But I've only been writing fiction for 2 years, I remind myself. Hope I improve.)

Excellent. So glad this works for so many folks (including you!). I'm one of the lucky ones who doesn't get much in the way of side effects. Thought maybe going from Novavax back to Pfizer this time out I would but I didn't even have a sore arm. I hydrate a lot (always) which may help.

Oh, well, they hadn't written fic in like 17 years wow wow wow. Anyway. Maybe 17 years from now I'll be better at this but I remind myself I only started two years ago writing fiction at all. Like, never wrote a word of it (except maybe a short story in school once?).

So in_the_wonderlandxx has been leaving amazing comments on my Slow Horses fics raving about them and then they posted this as part of a long comment and wow, that's so kind and then I clicked through recently to see if they had posted anything and holy fucking shit the fic they wrote is GREAT.

I will say it was great timing to get a comment on that fic that starts with "Each time I read one of your fics, I think I can’t love them more, and then the next one proves me wrong!" right after I posted a new chapter of my current WIP that I'm nervous AF about. (Ugh, I wish I could write better.)

One of those was also a lot about me dealing with grief (most, if not all of them are in a way but this one is the most explicit about it) & also the bulk of it was written during Metro Surge so it's just always going to be a fic I'm emotional about. ("Not His, But His"-tho I still hate the title.)

I don't think that's going to happen with vids. I love fanvids, have loved them since the 1990s, but I do not know how to edit video (the few times I've attempted it were just sad) & don't think my brain works in such a way I could make a decent vid. I will content myself with making vid shows.

Some of you may recall that the reason I started writing fanfic was out of frustration at a lack of fic for a favored pairing/fandom. If no one else will write new stuff, I'd do it myself! And then I wrote a million words despite never having written fiction before. And a new obsesssion was born.

One thing that should motivate me to get back to the Two men walk into a pub story is that there are are least 4 people who are posting enthusiastic comments after each chapter I post and lord knows I can use kind words and encouragement these days. Have watched Lanterns too, save for the finale which I guess drops tonight. Am eagerly watching each new episode of Slow Horses as they drop (and then rewatching, I'm totally normal about this show). Did watch Reacher and Neagley. Watching a lot of TV compared to what became my norm for a bit.

Finally watched Heated Rivalry! Also watched Vera (I'd only seen the first season or two before I think). I watched Shetland twice through & am tempted to watch again oh no. Watched Murder in Provence. And The Long Call. Started Happy Valley but think it may be too dark for me right now.

Other people might feel accomplished or impressed with themselves for writing a novella or novel-length work, I'm impressed because I wrote something that's less than 2,000 words. (Also it seems appropriate that a Shetland fic would be sparse.) (Relieved I think it's okay in the light of day.)

I actually took notes on things characters said to try to make them maybe sound truer to canon but I also didn't want to use anything truly offensive of course and I didn't think of it as being so (and maybe it isn't but I'm sensitive about this sort of thing).

fuckwit! It's fun to say, it's used on Slow Horses, I thought it just meant kind of clueless or a fuck-up basically, like the Urban Dictionary definition: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?t... But then I went and looked it up elsewhere & ugh, I'm probably overthinking it.

I actually find the various dictionary definitions ableist in a way because I don't equate "fool" with "stupid" for instance or "clueless" with it or "Irritating" or "ridiculous" . . . 🤔 (And I know plenty of people who don't seem to think "stupid" a slur but I avoid using the word.) (Sigh.)

Grumpy that I used a word a ton in some fic that by one definition is an ableist slur—that's not the definition I knew! Feeling foolish and I used it so much it would be difficult to weed it out of the fic. (I put a big old content warning/explanation on the fic for now.) (Got it from canon, obvs.)

I've now watched 8-10 and am back to season 1 like a totally not at all obsessed person. 😂 For some reason I thought there was already an 11th season so that was a rude awakening to reach the end. Harrumph.
