It is hard but we pay human artists real money for covers. Our jacket copy tends to be a joint venture between our writers and our editors. We don’t use AI for anything. We wish absolute destruction on any publisher that is using AI or LLMs for covers, copy, or anything else. ☠️☠️☠️

That rush of emotion when you realize you're reading the line that gives a book its title. (This time it was It Will Come Back to You by Sigrid Nunez.)

I am extremely biased bc I love both of these people, but this is a wonderful conversation. I really really loved their talk of play as an adult. I loved their convo about writing. I love their talking about about everything.

I had so much fun talking with @ljabouttown.bsky.social! LJ is an amazing interviewer and was patient with my nervous speech habits/knew how to draw the story out and made me so comfy. We laughed, maybe we cried too? but you can't see our faces.

I'm excited to announce that my debut novella comes out next year from @thisissplice.bsky.social. This is a strange little book about a detective, a hoax, a fictional language, and a place that doesn't exist (or does it?). It has two halves that unfold in parallel, on the left and right pages.

Stop using AI and use public services! They want to make every single part of our life pay-to-play while stealing from the commons. Everything that sucks now is a consequence of what they have already stolen: public funding, public services, public regulations, public research, public education.

This paragraph from @suzyeynon.bsky.social’s Terrestrial is really hitting this morning.
A picture of a page of text from Suzy Eynon’s Terrestrial. This paragraph is circled: …the relief of reading words to justify a long-held belief: that town was weird, and this was why. For years she had felt the first part, that she was outside of something, or outside of everyone, though how could one be outside of their own life, a passenger and a driver? But she felt a resignation, that she was guest starring in a show for which she never signed up or was, witness to something over which she held little control. It was discovering the why which buoyed her. She side-eyed those who believed in the supernatural or those who sought a guiding spirit or ideology, but she also didn't feel it was outside of the version of reality to which she clung to discover that the town in which she was forced to come of age housed soil glittering with evidence of not-so-ancient alien carbon. The coincidences of life, like song lyrics as spoken messages from the radio or a connecting fiber between circumstances or people for whom there should be no connection, were evidence enough to Daisy that nothing that could be conceived was unconceivable.”
