True to form, the front page of the i is all about Burnham and prviate talks with Abu Dhabi, I did worry his comments about Man City might come back and bite him on the bum.

Hes take Starmer's credit and he has to take some of the blame. It's all part of the package he maneouvered for himself. As to the prision situation, the Tories created the problem and early release appears to be the only current solution, with all its imperfections. It must be better managed.

Chris Mason: Why Andy Burnham's about-turn on Manchester City matters
The prime minister's comments on Man City were revealing on several levels - and leapt on by many in football, the BBC's political editor writes.

Just heard reporters speak about the two attempted murders, sorry attempted lethal injections of Christa Pike in the US. The death penalty is immoral. A stain on a nation. A so called modern democracy should not be indulging in state sanctioned murder.

Andy Burnham 'completely out of touch' on Man City, Tories say
The prime minister said he would be "really concerned" if the club's owners sell up after Premier League rule breaches.

Andy the bus man. Aye right,he was the ‘political face’ of a policy championed by others, others done the groundwork, the hardwork to have it to a stage where it could be implemented. He implemented it and he took the credit. Sound familiar??

We will need to recruit an ‘army’ of beautiful souls to provide the care in homes. Not press gang a load of disgruntled school leavers to take on the role rather than be on welfare. Or maybe look at taking people from other countries????

Prime Minister Andy Burnham strongly supports a radical expansion of devolved powers, aiming to shift decision-making and funding away from Westminster and Whitehall to local communities... . . . . . . but not to Scotland

Let's hope his promises last longer than the one about lifting the alcohol ban in football stands. If Burnham is only building council houses, who's responsible for all the housing targets Councils are having to meet that include all kinds of new builds?

I shall be listening to Burnham’s speech tomorrow. In the hope there may be something he actually can do in the next three years. I don’t want to wait until 2029/30 to see any progress. Especially when Keir managed nearly 70% of his manifesto in just two years.

Andy Burnham quickly distancing himself from plans to lift the alcohol ban in men’s football stands after being given advice police forces would have claimed clubs would need to pay for extra policing. So hopefully that’ll teach Burnham not to shoot at the hip with populist nonsense.

He said a lot about council houses. He didn't mention all the other houses he/Angela Rayner are inflicting on rural areas that don't want any growth in their postcodes.

I don't want any growth in my postcode. I pay council tax for no amenities and I'm happy to do so. Burnham and Rayner are building houses in the Green Belt and they're not social/council houses. Meanwhile, Labour pretend to care about climate change being detrimental to ecology. Utter hypocrisy.

Suzy Brewster @suzybrew.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Burnham building council houses is fine BUT that's not what is happening. Large housing developments are being built on Green Belt land and little of it is council/social housing.

For those of us who live in rural areas, Angela Rayner is a big mistake. By all means build more social housing. Pushing huge housing developments in rural areas, however, just proves that our economy depends on house building. Yes, I'm a Green Belt Nimby who backed Starmer. Labour's not for me now.

What annoys me is the waste of bloody time. We’ve gained nothing in Burnham’s first two months. We’ve lost years of progress with the EU. Labour has lost all credibility. So who is happy??? That’s when you know what it was all for.

Think Reform fucked it with their donations. They're so outrageous, so obviously obscene, that they've managed to accidentally create a consensus for tougher action on political funding.

Starmer was going ahead with caps on political donations and Burnham stopped it. Another reason they got rid of him? Labour not wanting the cap it seems so the PLP lied to us again ffs labour as corrupt as any other party now it seems. What’s going on with politics its a disaster everywhere just now

Nothing to stop Burnham voting freely. I disagree with your stance but it’s yours and you’re entitled to it. I would have voted for the opportunity to make that choice for myself. It’s my life and it should be my death, not one decided by MPs.

Burnham not voting on assisted dying demonstrates a lack of leadership. It's an issue on which the country should be aware of the P.M.'s stance.
