I agree that is a concern. Do we trust Amazon/Ring though? There are thousands more of those cameras around Providence than Flock license plate readers.

I had the opportunity to visit the Real Time Crime Center today. I got the impression that the people who run it take privacy seriously. I hope our new Mayor takes the time to see what they do there before making big decisions on what happens next. Public safety is in the public interest of all.

Voted yesterday at PVD City Hall, was out in 5 min. 10 years ago, before there was early voting in RI, I waited in line for 3 hours on Election Day. Sometimes it feels like the pace of positive change in RI is glacial, but this is one area that has gotten better over time, thanks to #letRIVote.

”As daylight faded outside his corner office, Speaker Shekarchi mused that after a year's hiatus, he might not have enough "juice." The point of revolving door laws is to reduce the chance of political insiders juicing the wheels of justice. Going to court to become a judge is not a good look.

Sounds like it’s time for a new poll! But until then I don’t think it’s accurate to make a blanket statement about all riders. Some riders, yes. But I think we should also be thinking about how to draw in new riders, and making better rail connections has the potential to do that.

Would just like to raise my hand as a rider that supports moving the bus hub next to the train station to create an integrated, multi-modal transit center. Many cities do this successfully and we can too! I don’t think it’s accurate to say all riders are opposed. Have we been polled?

The revolving door law requires sitting legislators to wait a year before applying for a judgeship. This has been generally followed for lower courts, but in recent years an exception was made for the Supreme Court. Looking forward to the Ethics Comm’s explanation. Hard not to see cronyism at play.
020
Suzanne Ellis Wernevi @suzannewe.bsky.social · 09/05/2026
Why would a one-year revolving door ban, aimed at limiting political influence in the courts, apply only to lower courts, and not to the Supreme Court? For this non-lawyer, an exemption to the law for the highest court makes no sense. RIers deserve an explanation that doesn’t sound like cronyism.
