Too bad the healthies in 60-day bedrest group (age 30, 66% men) are different from the healthies in comparator group (age 42, 50% men) It matters bc there are age & sex differences in muscle & performance variables e.g. fCSA change due to bedrest is greater in males (v females) bc they begin larger

Oddly though, there wasn’t a large decrease in the amount of HERV-W protein in the blood after or during the treatment period The small decrease was the same in treatment & placebo groups Same with blood cytokine levels

I think one of the most interesting findings of the study was the increase in activating Fcγ receptor function in LC - assessed via antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis using MED20 as an antigen

Here’s a short presentation of the Norwegian pilot study on using the medicine Daratumumab on MEpatients. The results have lead to the decision to turn this into a large study with 66 patients. The lecture is in Norwegian with English subtitles. #pwme #MEcfs

It’s interesting because antibodies cannot get inside of cells from the outside (i.e., from interstitial space, cell culture medium, or the circulation) They can tho, bind to things in the circulation and they can bind to cell surface proteins
