The shipment included one of the jet’s canopies, which covers the cockpit and contains stealth technology that only the U.S. and its allies have access to, according to two of the people. An adversary could study the parts and potentially reverse-engineer the prized technology if it had one of the canopies.

Dr. Joseph Laycock's article "A Cult by Any Other Name: Is "High Demand Group" a Useful Category?" in the journal Nova Religio available at a local sci hub near you! A key take-away from the essay:
*highlighted text*When someone calls a group a “cult,” it is not clear whether they object to the group’s theology, have concerns about its social structure, are unimpressed by the size of its membership and the date of its founding, or if they simply do not like it.

I'd actually say she'd be making a better point if she just stopped at what her tweet said rather than her stupid letter talking about "staffer bros" and "visual learners". Like a map can be a lot clearer than a text description based on things like geographic features that can change!

"Have you ever thought that it's really weird you can’t add pictures to laws? I see so many laws that would be clearer and more logical if we could just include a map or a blueprint.

Congress recently passed my initiative to bring legislation into the 21st century and explore including images in the text of bills–this is a long overdue step in the legislative process."

The real kicker is applications are up 46% since 2020 and 22% since ChatGPT launched. So on average you're not actually seeing the "used to be dozens now its thousands" shift but "used to be 100, now its 150", which for the initial phase of filling a role is not that important.
This formula has led to ballooning candidate pools and laborious hiring processes. LinkedIn tells WIRED that submissions per applicant on the platform are up 46 percent compared to February 2020. Since the launch of ChatGPT, applications are up 22 percent. The explosive number of applications led to LinkedIn adding limits to cut back on automated and low-quality applications. This month, the platform is rolling out a feature that informs (seemingly) underqualified applicants that they probably aren’t a good fit for a role, and suggests other jobs.

Quick math based on info in this article shows how bs it is. Take their extreme case of 2k applications and "hours to set up filters" to determine who gets "a 30 second skim". Spend 4 hours on filters to spend 100 minute sorting 200 resumes and that's under 6 hours in a process that takes weeks.
“A year ago, every recruiter would tell me: We want to make it as easy as possible to apply for jobs,” offering candidates a “seamless experience,” Ophir Samson, the head of voice AI for Greenhouse, tells WIRED. Samson joined the recruiting platform earlier this year, when it acquired his startup, which used AI to conduct job interviews. “What they got was 2,000 applicants in 24 hours for a job. That is a shitty experience for everyone.”

Good applicants can’t stand out, while bad candidates slip through the cracks. Recruiters, Samson says, face the tortuous task of judging thousands of candidates, every single day. Instead of taking the time to search LinkedIn for dream employees, they spend hours in applicant tracking systems, tweaking filters to try to determine whose applications are worth a 30-second skim.

A spokesperson for the Clark Atlanta researchers who conducted the study shared a statement to WABE, “By presenting the University’s clarification alongside Waffle House’s approval and praise, the release creates the appearance that an external corporate subject may have influenced how academic work would be publicly characterized.”

I appreciate these journalists have to try to be fair to the lab leak conspiracy theorists, but damn is this weak for the anti-Fauci case. Oh during a briefing Fauci gave a little of his own opinion? When did "briefing" mean no words coming from the person briefed? Gabbard has nothing here.
Nothing in the newly released documents shows that Fauci did talk about Covid-19 and bioweapons in the CIA meeting or with an intelligence agency at another time. So even if Fauci’s comments in the CIA meeting qualify as talking with the agency about viral research, these documents leave it far from indisputable that he lied to Congress.

In fairness to Fauci critics, the documents do suggest Fauci wasn’t telling the full story of the CIA meeting with his next comment in the exchange; he said that “after the investigations began about Covid, I was briefed by intelligence agencies about possibilities of there being activities going on in different laboratories; I was briefed by intelligence agencies.” The documents do describe the CIA meeting as a “briefing” for Fauci, but also show Fauci expressed various opinions to the CIA in addition to receiving information.

The revised list, according to documents obtained by Military.com, include Agnostics, Buddhists, Hindus, Islam (Muslims), Judaism, Sikh, and a wide range of Christian-based groups like Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans and Methodists.

This restructuring of faith codes, which help identity service members as well as the military in planning for appropriated religious coverage to include them, has now excluded minority faith/worldview groups including Atheists, Asatru, Deists, Druids, Eckankar, Heathens, Humanists, Magick, New Age churches, Pagan, Rosicrucianism, Shaman, Spiritualists, Troth, Unitarian Universalists and various Wiccans.

She roofied the guy multi times and used her position of power to coerce him further. Yeah that's fucking illegal for good reason you jackass.
A JPMorgan executive allegedly used her power to sexually harass and abuse a junior male employee - drugging him, subjecting him to racial abuse and threatening his career when he refused her advances, according to a lawsuit.

Lorna Hajdini, 37, an executive director in JPMorgan Chase’s Leveraged Finance division, is accused in the filing of coercing a married banker into ‘non-consensual and humiliating sex acts’ over months, despite his pleas for her to stop.

Her accuser claims she admitted to drugging him with the date rape drug 'roofies' on multiple occasions and, during one encounter, berated him as he cried while she performed a sex act on him against his will.

RESEARCH AND RATINGS REVIEW PROCESS

Freedom in the World is produced each year by a team of in-house
and external analysts and expert advisers from the academic, think
tank, and human rights communities. The 2026 edition involved 134
analysts, and 28 advisers. The analysts, who prepare the draft reports
and scores, use a broad range of sources, including news articles,
academic analyses, reports from nongovernmental organizations,
individual professional contacts, and on-the-ground research. The
analysts score countries and territories based on the conditions and
events within their borders during the coverage period. The analysts’
proposed scores are discussed and defended at a series of review
meetings, organized by region and attended by Freedom House staff
and a panel of expert advisers. The end product represents the
consensus of the analysts, outside advisers, and Freedom House staff,
who are responsible for any final decisions. Although an element of
subjectivity is unavoidable in such an enterprise, the ratings process
emphasizes methodological consistency, intellectual rigor, and
balanced and unbiased judgments.

Scott Sheffield, one of the US industry’s longstanding leaders, said Trump had to solve the problem of the strait to protect the world economy from much higher oil prices, even if it meant putting US military forces on the ground.
Wikipedia screenshot titled "Collusion allegations:"

During the COVID pandemic, Sheffield petitioned the Texas Railroad Commission to curtail oil production in order to raise oil prices.[12]

In May 2024, during its antitrust review of ExxonMobil's acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleged that Scott Sheffield had illegally colluded with OPEC and OPEC+, a related cartel of oil-producing countries, to raise oil prices at the expense of U.S. households and businesses.[13] The FTC's complaint cited a quote from Sheffield acknowledging his tactics.[13] Pioneer Natural Resources countered that the FTC misunderstood Sheffield's actions.[9] The FTC reiterated the allegations, citing Sheffield's communications urging production limits.[14] Consequently, the FTC approved the $60 billion merger between Exxon and Pioneer Natural Resources in May 2024 but imposed a settlement condition that barred Scott Sheffield from joining Exxon's board after the merger.[14] In July 2025, the FTC announced that they reopened and reversed the decision barring Sheffield from Exxon's board. He stated he has no interest in joining the board, though he does remain one of Exxon’s largest shareholders.[15]

George's answer is a bit interesting because it implies that both are wrong in a different way: we broke the survey everyone uses. Possibly both are broken being online now but UMich definitely looks broke. That's neither vibes nor material conditions, just measuring junk data.
two posts in the thread linked above from @peark.es

First post: "A coda: UMich has shown a much, much worse sentiment picture since COVID than Conference Board. The CC data still has a residual versus traditional hard data drivers (see above) but it's way smaller. UMich survey methodology changes (moving online) may have something to do with this."

Second post: "Good corrective, I had forgotten that Conference Board moved online earlier than UMich. I still think the difference between the two (Conf underperforming expected but still respectable historically vs UMich record low) suggests survey issues."

Reply from Jamesbeam:
"Unpopular opinion. It depends.

I totally agree with your statement if we are talking about the average citizen starting to throw Molotovs at his house. If you’re afraid AI is taking your job, just do something else. It’s not the end of the world changing careers.

Plenty of work AI won’t be able to do, or allowed to do without a human assisting in some way that secures the human a good income and way of life.

So if this is done by an individual citizen, they need to be hunted down, arrested, and get the full force of the justice system to deter others from doing the same.

On the other hand, right now, Sam Altman is a valid military target for assassination in the US / Iran war.

OpenAI did snatch up the contract from Anthropic at the Pentagon, and their technology is in some capacity used to murder Iranian HVTs (High Value Targets). Altman is therefore technically a legal HVT for the Iranians.

If you say it’s valid and not a war crime for the US to assassinate former political Iranian figures and their families for aiding the new regime and therefore becoming enemy combatants in the eye of the US Military, it’s also valid to assassinate Altman and his family for doing the same to the other war party."

Not real sure what this tells us about sports betting. Bad for everyone between 25-45 and good for everyone else?
Same chart as OP but with a green line showing when sport betting was legalized in the US in 2018. Suicide risk does increase for most age groups after that line except 25-34 and 35-44.
