"For the sake of peace, I'm going to kill you!" goes crazyyyyyyy

Toshiya moves forward unphased by Gagan's multiple attempts to shoot him.

"This gun contains the rage of all our friends and family from Io and Earth..."

"...that you called 'worms' as you murdered them!"

Steeling himself, Toshiya spits out "For the sake of peace, I'm going to kill you!"

Rie... Kumiko Takizawa's performance is so good...she's so desperate, so resolute...

Holding a pistol and prepared to go out alone, Rie gives her last orders as the de facto leader of Trinity Base.

"Protect the generator and the Base to the death!"

With the Sigma Breastplate ineffective, they're down to one option...

JULIE: At this rate, God Sigma and Trinity Base are doomed!

TOSHIYA: The only weapon we have left is the Supreme Sword!

God Sigma brandishes its signature weapon.

"We're gonna pour our love for peace and Io," Toshiya begins to explain.

"...our fiery spirits, into this blade!" he finishes, as God Sigma raises the Supreme Sword high.

Absolutely incredible description of Jung Freud buying two bottles of Pepsi from the first Gunbuster novelization.

Text: She was carrying a bottle of Pepsi in each hand. To be clear, it didn't seem like she was carrying them for lascivious purposes, or to clean out someplace weird. She just liked Pepsi. And just because she had two didn't mean that she was keeping one to drink and one to use for lascivious purposes, or to clean out someplace weird. Her throat was parched, and she had thought about buying two. That's all.

Remember when Crunchyroll tried to make their subtitles significantly worse a year ago? They backtracked on it at the time, but I suspected they were just delaying their plans to shift from Aegisub to OOONA, and sadly, it seems I was right: Crunchyroll is actively pushing OOONA subs to users now.

It's always a little surprising seeing subtitling on foreign film bluray discs and realizing just how ahead of the curve anime fans have been for presentation. Just having on-screen signage and spoken dialog displaying at the same time never felt like arcane wizardry, but it sure apparently is!
