'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5' released on this day in 2015. Rushed to pass in order to capitalize on Activision's soon-to-expire Tony Hawk license, THPS5 debuted to scathing critical and consumer reception. The final title developed by studio Robomodo, before their closure in 2016.

'Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood' released on this day in 2008. BioWare's attempt to bring Sonic and friends into the RPG fold on the Nintendo DS. Criticized on release for simplistic gameplay, poorly-paced story, and a soundtrack straight-up broken in its implementation.

'Day One: Garry's Incident' released on this day in 2013. An underwhelming first-person survival title, made particularly infamous due to the creators' attempts to silence criticism using copyright claims and Metacritic astroturfing. Ultimately delisted entirely from Steam.

'Girl Fight' released on this day in 2013. A mediocre 3D fighter downloadable by way of PSN / XBLA. Attempts to traffic in the same sort of sex appeal as a 'Dead or Alive,' but ultimately falls flat in terms of mechanics and production value.

'Contra: Rogue Corps' released on this day in 2019. Developed by Toylogic as a dual-stick-style entry in the Contra franchise, with contributions by legendary comics writer Evan Dorkin. The end result is a quickly-repetitious grindfest with an entirely ignorable story.

'Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma' released on this day in 2015. Intended to be the first volume in a three-part sequel series to 2009's Afro Samurai tie-in game. However, consumer and critical reaction was so poor, that all plans were scrapped / the game was pulled from sale.

'Castlevania: Order of Shadows' released on this day in 2007. A J2ME title starring a forgotten Belmont by the name of Desmond. Cramped cellphone control schemes, gaudy graphics, and particularly sluggish attacks all contribute to a lesser entry in Castlevania's handheld line.

'WET' released on this day in 2009. Rubi Malone and her akimbo revolvers go on a psychobilly freakout for the ages, featuring a kickass soundtrack and bullet ballet. A repetitive gameplay loop is the most commonly-cited criticism of this grindhouse third-person shooter.

'MTV Sports: Skateboarding Featuring Andy Macdonald' released on this day in 2000. THQ's attempt to cash in on the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater trend. Nearly unplayable due to some of the stiffest controls seen in the genre, on top of absolutely broken collision detection. Gnarly.

'Boo Bunny Plague' released on this day in 2014. Part 3D beat 'em up, part musical, part Biblical adventure; all accompanied by a robot rabbit incessantly spouting off early aughts "lol random" humor. An ambitious (if not deeply annoying) indie title worthy of some commendation.

'Perfect Dark' (on GBC) released on this day in 2000. A prequel of sorts to the incredible N64 title of the same name, which similarly banks on pushing its respective platform hardware past its limits. Problem is, Rare's handheld division forgot to focus on fun gameplay to pair.
